Anyone able to check out a bike in Palmy for me?

    Hey,

I'm looking at a bike on trademe at the moment, a 1988 Cbr250r...minor problem - I live in auckland, the bike's in Palmerston North...Is someone who knows a thing or two about bikes able to check it out for me?check the forks, tires, sprockets, chain, wheel bearings, general paintwork etc...'cause I don't wanna get down there and realise there's something wrong with it!
'course there'd be something in it for said person...box of beers or something when I come down/money in the bank/eternal glory....whatever floats your boat...

Lol tempting but might have to pass on that - George the MC doctor does assessments for 65$ haha.:-P and I'm perfectly capable of riding a bike + have airpoints to get me down there :-)

i'd be very surprised if it's not an import and at the time they were pouring into the country the speedo checks were essentially non-existent, so no real way of knowing

Nope the 9000km are real according to carjam - was 6000 on import July 2008. Hence why I want it looked at :-) tossing up between it and a mc22 that has done (aparently) 94000km but starts up from cold/a week of no use with no problems, has new tires etc.

ok, its done 3000km since it was imported a year ago, that I can believe.....but 6000km in the 20 years before that?

I'm not trying to rain on your parade or anything, just be wary, it seems a little unlikely to me

    good luck

Yeah hence my hesitation. Though I have heard from people that alot of these cbr's have sat idle for years and years...Anyway, I've decided to go with the RR...high km's or not, the engine started cold, new tires etc. Renagade master has been kind enough to offer to help me do some forks on the cbx, so hopefully will be able to do them on the cbr myself :-)
