Restricted test route in Meadowlands?

Hi all,

After getting my license then never having the chance to hop on a bike many many years ago, I've finally decided to get into motorcycling

I'm still in the market for a bike, but have a mate's bike that I've been practicing on, and will probably use that to sit the restricted test in a month or two when I get around to it.

I'm going to do my restricted at the AA centre in Meadowlands, and was wondering if anyone knows where you'll go for the test? Basically I plan on going over the route and give myself that bit of extra practice before I go for the test (which sounds really easy from what I've read on this forum!)

Christ, this is the third time I've tried to post....

I did my restricted test at Meadowlands about five months ago. Its a pretty basic route, but I suppose that depends on the instructor on the day.
Anyway I had my test at 730 on a Monday morning, traffic wasn't too bad though. We turned left out of the AA place (towards the Botany complex) through the round-a-bouts (remember to indicate out of them) then we went into some estate and I did a turn in a cul-de-sac (remember to indicate when you do this, as my instructor said to treat it as a turn, I didn't....) came to a traffic junction by the B.P. garage, on Chapel road I think? anyway I turned right after the light went green and checked for merging traffic. I was on the right side and I didn't move over to the left as quickly as I should have done, which I got pulled up on. Then along that road and through the round-a-bouts (indicate out of them....) then turned right back into the AA centre.
All in all it took around twenty minutes and you wear an ear piece that the instructor talks through. Remember to keep nodding like an Alzheimers victim when he conveys an instruction and you'll be grand!
Just remember to keep checking your blind spot/mirrors and speed and you'll nail it.

I just di my 6R there this morning in the pissing rain. I also did it at 7:30 in the morning, so the traffic was still pretty sweet.
Route is still as described above. Left out of the AA, straight through at the first roundabout, first road on the left and goes into a residential area. Had a couple of pull over and stop (safely and smoothly, be sure to indicate), then re-join traffic (head check, indicate when it's clear, pull out), couple of culdesac's (treat them like a U-turn and indicate / headcheck), the joined the main road again down by the gas stations. Back up chapel rd (speed up when you hit the 70kph area, be confident and speed up, but dont go over the limit), through the roundabout and back to the AA.

Wore an earpiece, was a little weird to get used to, and FOOK it was loud. Wanted to turn it down, but was already going. And if i didnt nod like a madman as soon as he started talking, he just kept saying it over and over again. Had a bit of a sore ear afterwards

All in all it was a cruisy ride for me, but would recommend you try it out if you havent been on the bike much. Drop me a PM if you want someone to cruise around the course with and give you some basic points, i live 10 minutes down the road

Just did my 6R this morning in Meadowlands and passed

the guy said his radio is playing up so I had to follow his indicators, so the first thing I thought was "crap, now I have to concentrate on the road infront of me AND keep an eye on his indicators". But it was all good, didn't even do a stop/start at the side of the curb, or go into a cul-de-sac (but then I missed one of his right indicators, and I think that's when I was supposed to go into that

).

Overall it was a good 15-minute ride, except this stupid asian guy (and I can say that because I'm an Asian guy

) pulled out right infront of me from the side of the curb without indicating, nearly knocking me down the bike. I honked twice, thought about giving him the finger, but thought I'd keep my cool with the assessor right behind me

Now I'm going to go to my bike and remove that ugly L plate which I've only had on since last night

Too true, although it was only on there the bike for about 12 hours in total...

Actually quite proud I've got my restricted after riding for a month and have about 550km on the bike (I got my learners 6 years ago but only started riding a month ago)...

But then I've been driving for years and I actually know how to be safe on the road anyway

got my restricted on thurs this week route seems to be the same as you guys have said already. Left out of AA through roundabout onto chapel road first left up and around back to intersection of chapel road by bp botany and back to the test centre, apart from riding all you have to do is pull over and back out a couple times and its all gravy.

The only thing i didn't do was move into left lane on chapel road like should have. Intercom was alright but did stop at one point he turned his lights on which means pull over fiddled with it and off we went again.

18months to go till can sit the full yay.

I sat my learners at Meadowlands, and what a shambles that place is, the General Manager (I assume she was) was letting rip at staff in front of a huge que of people, and if a customer had the wrong form, fuck me she got into them bigtime too. lmao, maybe aunt flo was here for the week.

Yup, did my 6R there this week. Course is the same as said above, takes about 15 mins, only thing I did was went for a half hour ride before hand to warm up a bit. Only thing that he picked me up on was when I went into the left lane along Cahpel Road going back to the AA place is I was riding too far to the right of the lane... I was in the right wheel track of cars but oh well, they have to say something I guess. Don't stress, just relax, remeber to indicate 'everything' and you'll be right.

Congrats Meteor, I'm sitting mine at Meadowlands tomorrow morning and will take an extra 30 min to do a lil warmup on the route. All good fingers crossed.

Just did mine there last night, all went good, i had some guy pull out in front of me and the instructor abusing him through the radio for about a minute, was funny. All bacis stuff with a U turn in the car park at the end

Well done for handling the guy pulling out in front of you.

I'm also the proud new owner of a 21-day temporary 1, 6R licence! However, I did fail to see the 70 signs on Chappel Road though until the third set which didn't impress my instructor.

I did have a tricky situation when coming to one T-junction where I was asked to turn right and a bus came along from the left and stopped at the bus stop straight accross the intersection from me. I thought well do I wait for the bus... or do I turn (cane it) and hope he doesn't pull out into the same lane? I had visions of both of us pulling out into the same lane and

figured I'd come off 2nd best! In the end I just sat there watching my indicator flash and did some nodding at my mirrors and the bus moved on.

All good. I read my tea leaves at KK's tonight and could see in my near future a brand new 600cc sports bike heading my way!

Can you tell me which road they go down after you get onto Chapel Road in Meadowlands? Is it Santa Ann Drive? Hoping to sit my Restricted within a month

Yes it is Blonderider, then L onto Westerham, do a U turn and back to Kilkenny, L and along to The roundabout and turn R onto Dannemora, R into a wee cul de sac, Carn and do a loop of the street then R onto Dannemora and R onto Chapel, back to the AA and job done.

Do a a half hour practice to warm up into it just before you go for the test, and don't forget to indicate... Good luck
