After a long run north today my beloved Beema decided that it was time to take a wee rest (diagnosis so far is a poo alternator but stay tuned)

The Beema died at the road works about 25km North of Dorkland around 6.30pm

Many cars queued up at the road works... a large number of bikes rode past.... who asked if all was ok and could they help?

The cage drivers (5 plus)

Not one biker stopped and asked if they could help. Finally rescued by the AA (Liam you are the man... a Biker and someone that understood how a bike should be loaded on a flatdeck)

So if you guys rode past a broke down Beema tonight North of Auckland (Southbound) then yes I made it home and yes I was ok and no I didn't need a ride, gas or cell phone but it woulda been nice for you to ask. I thought that karma works but obviously not.

Sorry for the bikes demise man,as you say sucks that others on bikes couldnt be naffed stopping.Not meant personally but am really glad i live downunder,still some old school values left.

Hmm.. I'm in West Auckland and I just pulled over to the side of the road to check my mobile phone and I got 2 bikers stop and ask if I was okay.. Which I s'pose is pretty rare.

I have sat on the side of the road with a flat tyre or whatever, or even been pushing my bike to the nearest gas station with bikers passing me by not stopping to help.

I put it down to commuter bikers.. they only ride around Auckland so don't realise how friendly and helpful people are outside of Auckland.

Everytime I got for a long ride out of Aucks, I soon as I return and get stuck in that firs traffic jam and no one pulls over for you and all the rest of it your heart just sinks..

Ah well, that' life.

It sucks eh. zapf and I were down in SI last year and when in Central Otago we stopped for a stretch. A Cockie (that's a Farmer Skid), stopped and asked if all was good. Started chatting and we ended up at his farm checking out a fantastic historic building, life is good with these experiences.

I always ask if I see a biker stopped (not beside a cafe or pub lol) ...end of story... you never know when it might happen to you right

Maybe its expected that if you have a problem you will always have a cell phone and will make a "scene" if you need help.

I stop when i can but i have often been in the fast lane of the motorway, a broken down biker is stranded on the side of the motorway, but im doing 110kph and im 4 lanes away, but if on open road etc and i can safely pull over i always do.

ive never had a biker go past and not give a thumbs up /thumbs down, or stopping to ask if im okay when ive had bike issues.

I dunno if your bmer looks like a cop bikers one, i highly doubt i would stop, given my past bikes were vary rarely legal by any means.

No worries, the traffic was an arse alright. I should taken 16 home as I forgot about the re-sealing

I was splitting along happily until everything stopped. Bet that gave the cage drivers a larf.

Pulled the alternator apart this morning and the brushes are what one would call "well worn" . New parts on the way

Happy to report that the Beema is now rebuilt and charging like a bull after a fraught couple of hours with a soldering iron.

$22.00 for a new set of brushes all the way from Germany yay... see if these last (another) 117,000k

back on the road again yay
