Motorcycling......why the buzz, why the thrill?
Is it worth upping the stakes as measured against
driving in a cage?
Only those who ride will know and only those who
ride will understand.
The sun warming you through your leathers, the cool
breeze wafting around your neck and through the vents
in your helmet. The smell of the countryside and the
feeling of liberty and freedom.
The intoxication as a simple twist of your right hand
brings the horizon towards you at a quicker rate than
before. The culmination of decades of engineering giving
you the control of power unimaginable fifty years ago.
Speed that was once unattainable when humans roamed the
earth on horseback are now reached as the clutch finally
grips in first gear and we have another five to go.
The sheer power that matches the largest herd of horses
that exists on the plains of America.
The euphoria as one corner is taken after another
that would have the tyres screaming in a car. The instant
throttle response when that "little extra" is required
to pass that line of cars. Looking at the world at different
angles and seeing the scenery flash by and being fully
aware of your environment.
You know to well the dangers that exist and yet every minute
on your bike is worth the chance that maybe you will never
ride again. But did the jousters of old think that when they
faced their adversaries with horse, lance and shield many
eons ago?
I think not. The modern day knight, sits astride his mount
with their helmet and leathers as their armour and the
potency of their machine as the lance and never think that
maybe this will be their last joust. We ride because the thrill
brings us back for more. The sense of freedom and release from
the negatives of life as we concentrate on every movement, spurs
us on in the never ending quest to ride in the zone.
Aren't you pleased that you discovered the joy of living
more in five minutes than most people live in a lifetime?
