Took me about 2 years.
Mainly because I got my full so I could ride a bike when I went overseas for 3 months to do a summer camp in the USA. Since I was saving to go overseas I didnt buy one then. Then when I got back I had to start saving money like crazy again just because I had no money and had to pay for rego and a warrent on my 250 plus the usual bills.
A week after I got my full I bought my 500 virago and sold my FXR!
I put my 2fiddy on the market a couple of weeks after getting my full. Sold a couple of weeks later. Now I'm bikeless for a week. Pickup my new ride this Saturday![]()
I couldn't wait, saw the bike I really wanted at the time and got it. The Yamaha 600 was purchased while I was on my restricted, nothing to stop that happening. Sold my 250 a few months after and had to get my wifes 250 to sit my full. So if nothing is holding you back? why wait?
Had my full for about a year now, still have the 250. (and plan to keep it after I upgrade)
Looking at bigger bikes, but need to save up some $$$ first (would like to buy NEW) until then the 250 is doing the job 2up.![]()
I finally got my knee down! …and my shoulder …and my pillion’s head.
What he said...
Once I saw a VFR400(Possibly one of the most cosmetically challenged NC24's on the planet) I had to have it, and no stoopid License restrictions, lack of Insurance, or good old common sense was going to stop me.
Lifes short I guess, make the most of it (There isnt always a tomorrow)
Bought the Bandit 2 weeks before sitting my full. Gave me time to sit on it and get used to the different size and weight (in the garage mind you!) before legally taking out for a ride. I only took it to the end of our street once before actually having my F because I didn't want the hassle of complications should anything happen in the way of an accident, even just with damage to the bike regarding insurance etc. and be in the poo being on the "wrong bike for the wrong licence". But that's just me - law abiding, Mrs CautiousOnce I had that temporary piece of paper in my hand saying I could legally take her out on the road, that was it - I was away! Kept the GN though as both husband and son now ride it.
Had some silly young tart pull out in front of me on my 250, wrote me & the bike off so I did the most logical thing possible..........6 weeks after the crash (while still on crutches) I bought a 937cc monster & rode it back from Auckland
am able to sit my full in a couple of weeks
ps: the abiding chaps at NP Motorcycle centre lend out a 250 for naughty boys to sit their licenses & only charge a dozen or so beers![]()
To laugh often and much; to win the respect of intelligent people and the affection of children; to earn the appreciation of honest critics and to endure the betrayal of false friends. To appreciate beauty; to find the best in others; to leave the world a bit better whether by a healthy child, a garden patch, or a redeemed social condition; to know that even one life has breathed easier because you have lived. This is to have succeeded
i got my learners in dec'88 ,and never owned a twofifty roadbike since
which is bloody ridiculous as all these years later ive still got to face the next stages of licencing eventualy, especialy if i ever want to buy new on finance or insurance etc etc![]()
I have recently got my full... have been looking at bigger bikes... just they all seem 'too big' for me... (cant touch the ground lol)... Im not in a rush to get a new one... I am looking however... once I've found 'the bike' for me, I will sell my zzr n go from there![]()
