What is this Bike ??

Can someone please tell what this bike is. I have never seen a R1 with a 700 cc engine. Is it a full on race bike??

In around '98 they were devoloping the R7, but I think the R6 took over and made it into production. That looks like a misprint, I would've heard if they were making a 700 or not

I thought they only made the R7 for track use

Not sure. I've seen somewhere a R7 kitted out with all the road gear and headlights, as if it were to be mass produced. Think I saw it in a Superbike annual
