Hornet moddied for less than $1K

some of us like to do, I thought I'd chuck up a few snappies of my bike. I've been doing a few mods to her and managed to keep the budget under $1K so far (thanks to the skills of a few mates and a couple of mine own).

    So what's different?

*Mirror indicators and Led indicators all around
*DNA airfilter and stubby side-mounted exhaust (sounds and performs very well). Must have saved about 10kgs from getting rid of the old cans. These are for sale too BTW.
*Slightly shifted number plate (was pulled over by cops recently and the cop passed it (just).
    *Radiator mesh
    *Oggy knobs
*Fancy little LED number plate lights
*Modified the original tail / mud guard and turned it into the tail tidy as pictured.
    *Braided front lines.

I'd like to now get her a PC and dyno'd and maybe some bling bling gold pegs and levers.

Anyway, cheers for looking. Suggestions for more potential mods are welcomed!!

where did you get the pipe from and how much?

Oh, and the airfilter?. I am really impressed with the rear end without the cans. damn cool, and I bet it sounds a lot better also.

the best thing I did to mine was the rear shock, and new forksprings. If I keep it I will spring for a fork rebuild also.

I put Renthal street low bars on mine, no issues with cables.

DNA air filter from Northwest.co.nz $150ish.
Pipe was $400 from Warren @ Virgin mufflers (see KB exhaust forums).
I did wonder whether or not to do the suspension. It feels OK at the mo (4000 kms new), but yeah that's a good $1500 to go the Ohlins way and get new springs for the front...

With the new exhaust and air filter she lifts the front really easily in 1st and 2nd. I don't know how much HP power it has added but seems substantial.

With that exhaust the PC & dyno job should probably be a priority now as it's possible you are running very lean at the top end.

Mine was lean with the standard exhaust and air filter. The DynoJet website lists the shops with the late model dynos...

Sod the Pazzo levers, get the real thing - get CRG.

Ya have to come pick em up first... i can only find one though

Saw a pretty modded hornet outside amps today, had a blue thing going for it, anodised pegs, levers and a fair few bolts, non-matching blue rim tape looked a bit ghey though. It had more mx styled bars, i wonder what it'd be like with them
