Don'tcha just hate cyclists? Poll

Well how much?

Me, I AM a cyclist. For the last 6 yrs in Auckland I've spent more time on my 40k commute doing it by cycle than motorbike, and for the last 20 I've enjoyed riding all types of motorbikes, road bikes and mountain bikes and driving cars. Personally I think doing all three gives you a better understanding of traffic and riding.

But I know loads of you hate cyclists. Especially lycra wearing ones. On the other hand, there is a fair number of you who are like me and pro cycling too.

So I thought I would give you this dilemma and see how the numbers shake out:

A little while back I was cycling scenic drive when some kids in a small green hatch leaned out the car as it passed me, and hit me.
It was pretty obvious they were heading to Piha.
I was so angy.

Well that's a completely different question. Who do you hate more, cyclists or fucktards in cars?

As a Motorcyclist and Cyclist, i have a lot of sympathy for both.
Especially the stock Trucks that get too close... Normal trucks are okay, but a stock truck within 300 metres of me on either vehicle is too close!!!

Reminds me, got to clean the leathers when i get home!

Anyway, it actually amazes me how many cyclists can't actually ride!
I mean, it is all good being able to turn the pedels at 100 rpm for 5 hours, but you still have to know how to ride.
That's where motorcycling is good...

Also, some cyclists do forget about manners on the road.
I saw it last night.
Situation: Blasting alond a back road last evening at 100, and see this colourful "thing" on the side of the road about two k's away.
As i got closer, i realised it was a bunch of cyclists stopped. Half were on the road.
Over the brow of the hill comes a car. I slow, and pull over to the left. Car see's them much later than i did and does the big swerve thing.
Thnakfully there was heaps of room in the end... and that included room for the car to bin into the ditch in front of me!

Now, this bunch may have thought they were far enough from the brow of a hill. They were for a 30km/hr bike. But for a car traveling 100... NO WAY! Especially since the driver obviously was asleep... As it turns out they stopped for a mate who had punctured just over the other side, and was fixing his flat. Now, I'm sure the driver could have made a mental note of this... But maybe i'm expecting too much.

The other factor was the clowns who pretended the road was now a foot path. Yes, it was a narrow country road, but 300m further along was a driveway they could have parked in!

Do i hate cyclists? No. Do i hate Car drivers? No. Do i hate Truck Drivers? No.
What I do hate is idiotic actions.
They can be done by all manner of people though.... including myself.
At least i'm man enough to admit when i stuff up though.
