    Hells teeth!

You know things must be really bad if Red Baron are offering a better level of service.

I dont know how some places survive
i just got a new replacement jacket fo rthe faulty one . ok
and they tel the missus not to tell me they didnt know where the fucked jacket had gone .

now a shop who wont want the customer to know somethings not where they thought it was .

    now thats service
    THEY DONT MUCK ME ABOUT
What do i mean by that .....simple they know not to .

Unless they ripped you off your best just to let it go and let your money do the talking by spending it elsewhere.

Longtime ago (around half year ) the Mt Eden Motorcycles were good, I received a good service and proper attention. Before John went back to UK. Now its a bunch of youngsters there. Was there last month for casual servicing, they said:
    need change chain and sprockets
carbs clean and sync, sparkplugs, front break pads
I thought OK, extra $1000 (quoted) out
    Decided to shop around and
Went to Cycletreads to change chain and pads, what do you think, my suspicions about chain and sprockets were proven, no need at all, the very same story with carbs - two mechanics said no point.
And to add more to my BEST experience so far
they forget couple of screws in the fairing and overtightened and crushed shim so I ended up changing it and oil again.
Hell, no farkin way I go there again

    Total rip off

As for 'why dont you go and tell them',
why do I have to go there, waste my time and to help THEM to improve for MY money?
Everything suppose to be right first time, if they failed to understand THAT simple thing - they lost the customer(s)

Mt Eden have always been reasonably good to me, which is nice because my bike is ancient and shitty-looking, I'm not terribly good looking and have next to no money.

However I'm not so naοve that I think they can't fuck things up from time to time. Even my favouritist shop ever (Econohonda) occasionally hires some idiots or assembles an order then forgets to post it out or takes my money then leaves a message on the answering machine saying `thanks for the $20, but what was that for again?'

So even though you may have had perfect service from Mt Eden, doesn't mean everybody has got it. I, for one, have heard Red Baron is rubbish. But I've never been there so I don't know.

Meh. Lesson here is to never buy a new bike

If the service is shit tell them up front and give them a chance to fix it. More people need to come forward and say at the time they are recieving a shit service that this is shit service, instead of whingeing about it later.
After 25 years involved with motorcycles there's one thing that sticks firmly in my mind. There are a number of motorcycle shops that think their shit doesn't stink. If you complain about the service you're just as likely to be told to fuck off (in a slightly more polite way).

I'm not for a minute suggesting that that is the attitude of the shop in question but it's one that does exist in the industry and is one that needs to change.

i agree with some of the other posts. You should let them know if they have messed you around.

Even the best bike shops will hire idiots from time to time.

It appears parts to this story are missing, however I have dealt with the bike shop in question for many years. Yes I have experienced the occasional boob on their part, however they have ALWAYS come to the party in resolving any problems I have. Its called, communication, and its required on both sides. I tend to pursue things myself and not wait for a bike shop to phone me back, I phone them.
