    Blah I made it!

I have been keeping tropical fish for many years, since I was a child and now I have finally managed to get my tank setup in the 'hall of fame' on a well regarded website. Hopefully, if it is voted for enough it will be published in their magazine and sent all over the world!

It is in the 'members only' section so cannot really be seen by anyone yet, but first step!!!

You can take a look at the photos on my site though: LINK

Wont be long, and I hope to start entering international competitions!

For those of you not familiar with the hobby, maintenance is the key with daily testing of water hardness, PH pruning of plants, aquascaping and making the aquarium as natural as possible.

What fish are you keeping Mr Dan?

I have a tropical community with clown loaches, various barbs, two bristlenoses and some stray neon tetras left over from a previous set-up.

It's all a bit of a disaster at the moment because I committed the ultimate fish-keeping sin: bought some stuff off trade me and added it to my tank without sterilising it thoroughly and now I have a horrible infestation of hairy algae

    My tank is 1200 x 450 x 450 and I am running 2 x Eheim cannister filters and a bunch of cobbled-together lights.

I'm moving this weekend and breaking the whole thing down and starting again at the new place in the hope of finally beating the algae.

Must talk to you about re-seeding my filter after the move and grabbing some plant cuttings from you...

ahhh... the big moving fishtank thang... yes done that a few times!!

Quite a bit of info for a PM but I will see what I can come up with for you.

I have been keeping tropical fish since I was old enough to turn the tap on, I will have a look, what cuttings would you be interested in?

How much lighting do you have? CO2 injection etc etc

Heehee kewl ... I've been tending to the fishies, Princessbandit gave me ( 2 died I's a bad fishies owner ), but finally got the tank running right and its looking purty ... just got artificial plants in it and a log o'wood for cover.

Leong has a set up of tanks that makes my set up look amateur ... oh wait ... he gave me a tank and a filter and gravel and the log o'wood for it!

Nice one, nice one! So, any other tips for newb fishy owners?

You should come and take a look at my tank sometime, you've seen "clean" but have you seen "natural clean" ? - where everything is so balanced and in sync with each other in a self contained ecosystem that the plants actually make the water cleaner, and fish that clean... as well as ensuring just the right amount of the various gasses are present in the right quantities!
