    Woodhill Bike Park Rescue Chopper

Helped a guy into a rescue chopper last Saturday.
He had a bit of a crash in the dune section of the park, and we had to carry him to the beach where the chopper could land.

At least he was talking, but his back didn't look too good.

Does anyone knows how he's doing?

I think I may make a wee donation to the chopper charity, those guys were awesome.

    Hey Bud,

Shane here, i am the friend of the guy you helped (Kel), he is in north shore hospital with a broken T6 vertebrae, could have been much worse, he's thankful for that, he will be off the bike for about 6 months though, he's pretty bummed about that.

he will be in hospital for a few days till they can get him in some sort of chest/back harness, then they'll ship him off home to be a couch potato till it sorts itself out.

i went to see him today, took in some chocolate and sandwiches, he thought it was for him... how could i let him down eh, i went hungry...maaate!

thanks for getting the bike back to the carpark for me, hanging around, and helping to carry the heavy bastard to the beach...took a while to get him out eh!

on the upside, his bike is parked at my place, if i wreck mine... i now have a spare!

    did you get any photos?

    Nice they sent the chopper.

Mate's dad broke his neck on Murawai beach and they wouldn't send the chopper so he had to drive him down to the beach access about half an hour away down the beach.......

Good to hear he's going to be ok. Amazing how heavy a person is to carry in sand. I don't have any photo's unfortunately...

    Enjoy your "new" bike
