    Any excuse for a ride...

Trying to decide whether to put both bikes rego on hold over winter - lady at the PO suggested it to save some cash. BMW runs out in July, but the GN ran out yesterday. It's blardy cold, so the thought is tempting. BUT. Today actually got Mr Lucy out for a ride (thanks Cook Island licence), now I am REALLY glad I kept the GN! Bit of bunny hopping and backfiring from the R80. still haven't cleaned out the fuel lines and it doesn't seem to like altitude changes.

Kind of strange riding up a road with snow on the ground beside you...knowing there's a cafe at the top which is well heated helps a lot. Having someone to ride with who doesn't mind me checking out his butt rocks too!

Thinking there is a shop at the top which I can buy merino glove liners is another plan - doh! Closed for job interviews.

Fast ride home......fire going, heat pump going, happy sigh.

I love riding the bruce road! Go down in the middle of summer, hot day with the road warm and warm tires....

Nice Photo ! Brave the cold and head to somewhere warmer lol
No seriously you dont wanna do that do ya ?
Invest in some warm gear and spend spend spend time out of the snow now and then ! They're predicting some good snows this winter so it depends how much time ya wanna be sitting staring at the warm glow of ya heat pump !!
A girlfriend once asked " Why is it you seem to prefer to race, than spend time with me ?"
The answer was simple ! "I'll prolly get bored with racing too, once i've nailed it !"

As long as trere's no ice anywhere, winter rides are "cool". Bugger all traffic (except near skifields) and all the pubs and cafe's got a fire goin'.
    Gotta have good gear though.

Unless you ride the winters you can never really appreciate the summers.

Good points all, I have warm gear but Mr doesn't. Mebbe I'll put the Beemer on hold and use the Ginny as my mountain transport, strap my snowboard on the back and park up the front.....glad to hear there is good snow forecast anyway!

If that's the case re the three months rego then I won't put either on hold. It was the lady at the PO who said I could. Hmmmm. You are right, not keen on doing it for six months!

Holy shit, where is that road? I didn't know there was accessable snow anywhere yet (yes, I'm an ignorant Aucklander). It's a literal dream to go riding near some snow! I want to go so bad D:!! Tell me where !

Not 100% sure on time frame but know that 3 months is no good and ya have to catch up the rego ! Thinking about it i think the only options ya have are 3 6 or 12 months

    Damn I'm jealous!

I just love the snow - don't get much of that kind of weather up hear in the winterless north (read NONE).

Nice to see not everybody avoids the white stuff.

I saw enough snow in my first 30 years of life.

Good on ya for getting out there amongst it though.
