    Biker DOWN - SH2 Today Waipukurau-Woodville?

We passed a nasty accident scene on the way back from the Cold Duck. It didn't look good. I hope the rider(s) are OK...

    Biker down in Central HB

"At approximately 10.20am this morning a motorcyclist travelling south along State Highway 2 between Dannevirke and Woodville (near to Corby Road) lost control of his machine, crossed the centre line and left the road on the right hand side. An oncoming car narrowly missed colliding with the machine, but the rider suffered extensive injuries as his machine overbalanced on the grass verge. The rider died at the scene.
Enquiries are at an early stage with members of the Police Serious Crash Unit conducting examinations of the scene and the motorcycle.
The rider is a 54 year old man from Carterton."

Sincere condolences to family and friends.

    RIP and ride free.

May the bridges I burn light the way.

Do you realise how many holes there could be if people would just take the time to take the dirt out of them?

That has to be one of the most benign sections of road in the country, I wonder what could have gone wrong for him.

Sad to loose another rider. RIP. John.

Yes...I had been ticking along about as fast as my wee 225 could go, enjoying the ride until we came across the accident. The ride home from there was a lot quieter for me - a good reminder that people can ride for years and have something go wrong for them...I've only been riding 6 mths!

shocking news. not what we want to hear. Very very strange as the road is really open and usually in really good condition.

Nearly all men can stand adversity and hard time, but if you want to test a mans true character, give him power....
