Be careful if you decide to head up Dyers Pass Road these days. Someone has found it necessary to throw a lot of little rocks on the road - feels a bit like riding on marbles.
Not that grit on the Port Hills should surprise anyone this time of year - however, I didn't expect it to reach all the way down to the city limit at Cashmere. With the low winter sun and the tree just coming out of the city it's not easy to spot either... had a bit of a nasty wiggle in the first corner and then decided to keep to the wheel tracks left by the cars.
It's still very pretty up there - but keep your eyes peeled and take care.
