ever since my mate told me that if your bike sits on hard ground,eg concrete, wooden floors,,, your tyres can develop flat spots,,,so now it lives on carpet

A mate of mine is away for months at a time so has his bike up on stands front and rear, keeps tyre shape and more stable.

I had a mate who had one of those terribly noisy (but fun on one wheel!) nifty fifties, it sat on concrete in a back shed for 3 years while he was on his OE and it had some horrendous flat spots on the tires!

Hence the Zong is on stands when off the road for more than a couple of days, or resting on underlay and arti-grass if its just overnight!!! (With a blankie to keep it snug...)
Missus: What the f*&k is that???!!!! Where the f*&k do you think that's going??
Me: It's a [insert old broken vehicle here] can't you tell?
Missus: Oh for f*&k's sake... [slams door]
Me: Phew, lucky she didn't see what's on the trailer!

I don't think I would ever have the bikes still enough for long enough to need carpet to prevent flat spots. I think if that happened it would be time to give bikes away.

I'm overseas at the moment for a while. My bike is nicely tucked up in my bedroom at home, on the carpet.

I find that the centre stand works quite well.
