However I've since looked at the new policy details and they have started doing lifetime no claims (after 1yrs no claim for me, maybe longer if your a new customer), and my current renewal papers (as of last week, but not actually renewed till early July) show me as still having 65%.

Check it out on your policy, it might be worth it
I think you may be right. maximum no claim bonus is 65% - that swhat I had.

Now in my policy said 55% so its not bad at all

    Thumbs up

I've been with State for over 10 years and have had a number of claims and they've been great each time.

I have change my bike cover from them to Kiwibike though, although the premiums were going to be ~200pa the excess was 1K whereas Kiwibike was ~260 with excess of only 250.

State have been great but if anyone is looking for bike cover, give Dave at BK a holler, top team there!

State won't insure me because of my age/bike combo even tho i'v never had a crash or claimed and been riding since i was eleven, its just not fair. on a side note who is the best for insuring young people at reasonable rates? the SV is not even a "fast" bike

I have home contents, rental property and 2 cars insured with State and so far I have never had any real issues except they calculated my payments wrongly some years ago. Also a few years ago I backed my Landrover into, ok kind of over, a parked car, State did the right thing, fixed the other car no probs and it only cost me a small part of a no claims on a relatively low cost insurance policy.

I had my triumph trophy with state but when I got the new HD they quoted $2300 then $1500 after I got a quote from Vero. Its now with John Baker with the Ulysses discount its $850.

There aren't any companies that will insure young riders on big bikers at reasonable rates. Don't take it personally, this is just the way it is.

I was talking to state today about this very subject. We have 5 policys with them. If you make a claim say a month after your policy renewal (and your at fault), you will still have your 65% no claims bonus untill your policy is renewed again. The lifetime no claims bonus starts after 3yrs without a claim that was your fault.
Been with them for 10 yrs, they have paid out on every single claim we made and have been brilliant. Always fast too.
