    Probably.
If it was potentially pertinent to an existing condition.

    Otherwise no.

I'm not allowed to. NZ invested a lot of money in training me to be a pilot. They can veto elective medical procedures that risk that investment and think 'drug trials for money' would likely fall into that category.

I have done and probably will do again. The money isnt my motivation though, and isnt really that much. I think I got $75 per visit with about 2 or 3 visits per week for about 6 months.

Actually this issue is a big concern for researches at Christchurch hospital. It has proven rather difficult to find volunteer test subjects. This is being additionally complicated by NZ having laws in place which forbids researchers to provide a financial motivation for signing up - i.e. they are not allowed to offer substatial compensation. As such people are basically asked to take time off work (or leisure) without being reimbursed for it.
Although I can see the point of the law, so that people are not tempted to sign up for dodgy experiements, it does hinder drug research in NZ.

If you are in Christchurch and are willing to consider signing up for such experiments flick me a PM with your email and I can have my partner get back in touch with you. The good folks at the Canterbury District Health Board would very much appreciate anyone who would sympathetically donate some of their time to drugs trials. Alas, there are no big money to be made from it - the last drug trial they ran they could only offer a $50 petrol voucher (organised by the professor I believe - charity like), and that was only if you fit the specific genetic profile.
It is preferential to refrain from the utilisation of grandiose verbiage in the circumstance that your intellectualisation can be expressed using comparatively simplistic lexicological entities. (...such as the word fuck.)

I tried to get hooked up to a drug trial last year ... it wasn't for money but for the health benefit ... problem was that my heart decided to play up at the same time and I was then not allowed to participate ... was a total annoyance ... am now waiting for surgey heart and once that is done and settled i might be allowed to try for other drug trials.

I did one in Dunedin when I was a student, it worked out to $800 cash after tax. Easy money if you can get it!
Is it Stage One trials or something that aren't allowed to give money for?
