140 bucks plus ten for postage not a brace but a hell of a lot better than some pads

i got them too and love them.
i found that they cut in a bit behind my knees but just put a piece of cloth behind them before velcro up.
    they feel good support.
    i rate them

i have also had this debate with myself.

i came to the conclusion that..... if you break your neck your knees don't matter anymore. therefore neck brace first, knee braces second (when i win lotto)

Yeah but when you've just had reconstructive surgery on your knee you don't want another in that same year haha

Does pressure applied to the knee cap get absorbed by the top bottom bits or your knee?

the pressure goes to the hinges on each side of the knee.

It's floating but can only get as close to your kneecap as the side hinges.

The cup itself is plastic topped and hard foam behind and about 2cm thick and then encased in the material covering.

And as SBF said the only downside is the top of the calf neoprene gets you behind the knee a bit.

    Fox Raptor

I tried on the PodMx braces and loved the feel of them 'till I got on a bike in the shop. Didn't like the feel when gripping the bike with legs. Tried Asterix ones and they were really bulky compared to the Podmx. Thought that 'tendon' thing in them was a gimmick, but I'm still thinking I'd really like some proper knee braces.

Read an Aus DB mag report on them. Had same prob with patella guard coming adrift.

Bought Fox Raptor knee guards instead ($140$). Better than nothing. Kept popping the little grommets that hold them together. (Apparently they all do this) until I araldited them in. Piss poor really. Look similar to Thor ones but have good knee cup on them.

In the future we'll have armour with little air bags all over the place that deploy when needed. A nice fat air bag around the neck would be lighter than a contraption that sits there all the time. Maybe dirt biker progeny will evolve exoskeletons (like insects) in half a million years.

    .
I also had the Fox raptor gaurds, same thing the little gromits would come appart all the time. Red Baron gave me a had full of the little buggers, so i glued them in place.
Only went to the knee braces after the fox gaurds got cut off me at summer cross.

    this is good to hear.

As i was told "in all good fairness this has only ever happened to you"
not realy something i wanted to hear.
