Have toKarma ... Justice catches up eventually !!
Just an update for you all. I am putting together a web page update regarding what we are doing here for uploading to the cheesecutter website! To save me a bit of time, I would love people to PM me or post up here what they are planning to do so I can include it!
I need some help!
Rashika has produced the most amazing flyer for the Auckland ride! Maha man compares it as a fine art graduate to a kindy finger painting, mine being the finger painting!
I need some kind people in Auckland, Tauranga, Rotorua and Hamilton to offer up a bit of time to go and put these flyers up for me. I would do it but distance is a bit of an issue really. I am happy to colour copy some and send down to you.
I am really looking forward to being overwhelmed by offers of help!
Thanks guys!
The woman that has the copy place in town is away this week, I emailed her the flyer for her to print out, and promptly put it on the back burner till next week!
Dumb! PM me your email, I will email you the file, maybe you could copy a few off yourself?Sorry about that, must have had a bit too much to do this week.
I dont get it.
So this is not a ride? And I got confused reading the press release... talks about wire barriers then all of a sudden it's talking about raising money for the helicopter?
So I gather people are just meant to turn up to the meeting points, loiter about and hand over money yeah? Will everyone know that the money they are giving is for the helicopter and has nothing to do with helping stop wire barriers?
Excuse me for playing devils advocate a tad, I just want a bit of clarification!

Here is a novel thought though. Why not organise something in Auckland yourself to finish up at Mechanics Bay when the big ride out returns, you can collect money and get a heap of signatures on the petition at the same time. PM me if you need any resources to get you started, I have spares. The helicopter trust are providing stickers for people that have donated money. There is 2 $100 petrol voucher draws for those that do donate. It is a joint effort mate, the more support it gets the better for all concerned.
At each of the bike shops the Auckland ride is stopping at there will be a speech given outlining the aims of the Cheese Cutter campaign, and riders will be gathering signatures at that time. There will be heaps of spare petition forms for people to take away and get signed.
All of the shops are making a real effort to support this ride, providing BBQ food and coffee etc. They have all received a resource pack with CC posters, press articles and petition forms for display in their shops, and in some cases are promoting the event on their own web sites. They are completely in tune with the 2 aims of this ride as is the Auckland Rescue Helicopter Trust.
Some of us were unable to make the big Westpac ride in February and this is some way that we can make up for that, and raise a bit of money for them.
We have the full support of the Westpac Helicopter for this ride, infact they are delighted that we are doing it. Some how the synergy of putting these two things together was not lost on anyone else. Cheese Cutter barriers are not safe for any road users, but particularly motorcyclists, they maim and even kill. The Helicopter Rescue services are there to help us should we get injured in pursuit of our sport. An easy mix really.
I have personally spent a huge amount of time over the past couple of weeks getting this thing up and running. The press release that you mentioned has already been circulated to print, radio, TV stations and to bike magazines as well.
Come on DD get in behind it and help to make it as big as it can get. Take a few mates and a heap of petition forms to a mall near you, ask if you can sit there and gather signatures, I will send you posters, petition forms, news articles to help you explain what it is all about.
I hope that riders in the other places we are stopping will offer to do the same. Get the Red Arm Bands on and get out there spreading the message about these things. Come and meet us at the bike shops and donate $10 to a very worthy cause, enjoy a sausage and a chat, have a look around the shops, generally enjoy themselves.
