I remember my father telling me years ago that one of the companies he worked for made the staff (going back to the 70's here) check their company vehicles every morning, including all fluids and lights. I commented to him that that was overkill and he said that it was better to check these things before something happened, and as far as lights went that they were a WOF requirement and therefore the drivers responsibility to maintain in working order. I doubt there is an actual loophole for broken tail lights etc, as it is the drivers responsibility.

Correct on all accounts, when I was an employer a few years ago, I said the same to my employee's. I didnt wanna know about shit like that, I just pay the bills. Thank god thats all behind me now and in a few weeks I will back to working on my jack, as our only emplyee is moving to cooler climates ...yes Christchurch would you believe?
On the loophole bit?.... you are right there as well OMB, I would argue it on the side of the road though.

It sucks, but I don't think you can get out of this.

I'd just pay the fine and move on.

    .

As a general rule you have 28 days from the expiry of your vehicle reg. If you get ticketed, and pay the reg fees within 28 days of expiry, you can send in an explanation to your local council, photocopy the ticket and new reg label.

Computers are funny things, they tell you all sorts of "stuff". Like WHERE and WHEN(what time) you paid bills. Was the place you renewed the same time and place you got the ticket, if so you MAY get off. BUT... failing to display is the "crime", regardless if you have renewed it.

Found a ticket for expired rego on one of my vehicles a couple of weeks ago - my daughter parked it on the road because the rego had expired and she couldn't drive it...duh!

Fortunatly this is my stolen car and the ticket will go to the previous owner at a fictitious address.

However....crime doesn't pay.I registered it for 3 months because I needed to use it....online.Now the label is going to the fictitious address....bugger!

LOL.. the only reason you need to go online to get rego is to download a copy of photoshop.. then you can make your own labels !

But it will depend on how long ago the label expired......

Yep... the time you purchased said "went to the post shop to get it then" is on it... It it ties in and hasn't been dead too long, write in. Downside is, coucil meter maids are earning $$$ for the council, not the govt, so they might not waive it at all. Good luck.
