If you send a nice letter you will most likely be let off....if you indeed paid up your registration now.
I have had this happen at least half a dozen times, and it got waived each and every time...... But the trick is writing a nice letter explaining why it wasn't registered......
    Good luck

Snap, same thing happened to me today.

As said, write in and you may get off, if you brought it before the ticket was issued then almost certain, if after then maybe, depending on the amount of time (10min for me...so maybe..).
(and remember they probably have access to the database that says when you brought it, so don't attempt to bullshit them on the time..)

Out of interest what was the ticket actually for? I was surprised that mine was "used an unlicenced" rather than the typically "did not display." If I was really bored I'd probably pull the payment date out a bit using that one

Following a car home late last night....the right rear light was not working.
My question was...'' if that guy got pulled over by a cop, would he get a fine''
    The answer....yes
If it were me, I would say to the cop ''thanks for telling me, is there anything alse''?
    I would not expect a fine....at all.
My arguement is...How the fuck would I know its not working?
Unless someone tells me....or at the next warrant check.
What makes you think he would get a fine? Urban myth?

I have never given anybody a 'fine' ticker, maybe some do get a ticket but it's always a 'compliance' ticket, most just get told their light(s) is out.

It counts towards me supposed 'quota' and the motorist doesn't have to pay.

    So we're all winners...yaaaay!

I've had this before, also. I got off the fine by taking the label or a copy of it into the council. They take down all the relevant details and send you out a nice letter, saying you don't need to pay in this instance. I think that it is up to the discretion of some pencil-pusher though, so hopefully, they are having a good day...

Great tip! I had no idea parking attendants could fine you for no rego. I wonder how much commission they get for it.

I often flash drivers with no front lights at night time...!!

Agree with a rear light it is had to check..just get Mom to stand behind the car when you reverse to check the brake lights, lights and reversing lights...

    That's a good one....having her behind car/truck while reversing.....
may have to tie her down first though
