Yes, the festival of Christmas (or Hannukkah, Sol Invictus or whatever you follow) is upon us, and it shows. I got on the bike this a.m. (why is every one so anti meridians anyway?) expecting the usual "oh my god the roads slightly damp, so we all better drive at 50km/h on the motorway" experience, but I ended up being pleasantly suprised. Got to the end of my street (not "mine", but the one I live on), dabbed the brake to make sure no bus was going to total me as I slipped into the nice, green, slippery as all buggery bus lane (thanks Mr Auckland Council, you're a pal) and pootled off towards the Western Springs on ramp.
Underpassed a few cars in the bus lane,, thn we hit the on-ramp just as the lights turn green. "My lucky day", I thinks, but I know the motorway is coming up. "Hey, wheres all the traffic". Can't see any, so I wind 'er up.
Yeeee-ha.....hit 120, I mean 110 (sorry officer) in short order, shot to the outside lane, pulling in behind a blue VTR (first other VTR I've seen actually), and stayed there until the left hander going under K'Rd. Get to lights and still doing 70, straight through with no splitting rerquired and EVRERY green light donw to the bottom of Nelson St, one quick yank on the Stop-rod, and I slip into the car park at work without skipping a beat.
"Bloody hell", I thunk again, "that was unexpected".
So thats my story folks, just a real good start to the morning. Pity the motel we were going to be staying in at Russell has packed up, so I'm home bound for the hols, but this makes up for some of it.
Now a prayer for the motorcyclists: Thank you Jesus, for the light traffic this morning. Next time, could you ask pops to make the road a bit drier, and lay on a blue light disco or a beating somewhere so that thearen't around, so I can see if this damn VTR can crack a ton? Oh, and sorry about them Romans and the crucifiction thing, but what can you do eh?
P.S. Bet all the crims will be planning their field-day, so lock up safe now y'hear.
