As some of you know I recently upgraded to a new mainframe, Ducati /ST4 20.01. It runs somewhat exotic hardware such as DESMO-CAM but the processor speed is blindingly fast. So much so that I'm thinking of adding further hardware like Microwave Link Detector to avoid other conflicts with government mainframes - and to detect Spyware.....
Anyway, I recently went to the Cold Duck Rally and a fine time was had by all. There was an element of trepidation involved because I'd only run the machine for a hour at a time previously so wasn't sure about its stability on a long run. Or rather my stability as the operator....
So, given the cool weather I migrated HippoHands/AllWeather 20.05 from it's previous installation on BMW 19.85 (where it worked brilliantly) to Ducati. Adding the hardware was simple and initially the correct drivers seemed to be installed.
However - and this is the point - I hadn't factored in the new mainframe's profile. It has a sufficently different operating system to the BMW that HippoHands was required to deal with far greater air pressure.
So when running the processor at 140kph, performance became variable and unpredictable. Sometimes responsive, others as if a virus was hogging the cache. It was at some point in the McKenzie Country that I discovered HippoHands has a previously unknown extension - AutoBraking!!
While clever, this addon is completely unwanted but cannot be uninstalled. Apparently it is a safety feature which responds to air pressure and automatically activates the front brake lever above 110kph in increments until forward motion is halted.
So any geeks out there - what do you suggest??
