Don't even get me started about doctors and other health professionals attitudes towards bikers. Between death and I we've seen a few physiotherapists and orthopedic specialists and my arguement is usually something similar with reference to our wonderfully socially acceptible sport of rugby instead of biking.

God rest his soul, but Christopher Reeves is always a classic arguement too when you start gettin THE Lecture. I have to say that i have found sports orientated physios pretty good these days. They are realistic about the fact that motorcycling is a sport, and all sports carries risk of injury in varying degrees. And of course there are us educated medics who followed you all to the dark side.
But then isn't motorcycling all about dickin the finger at society?!

Have a safe and happy xmas guys & gals and i hope we all get some sweet ridin weather for the holidays.

    Stay safe
    Cheers Draco

This reminds me. A cop told me that I NEARLY DIED today.

Of course, seeing as I'm still alive and my bike is quite shiny and unscuffed, the 'NEARLY' part is somewhat arguable.

Apparently he thinks that turning right in front of traffic and applying a fair amount of poke to stay out of its way (in this instance, a safe maneuver to perform on anything quicker than a GN125) constitutes NEARLY DYING.

Particularly when some twit in a van sees me turn in front of him and (apparently) boogies on his brakes and NEARLY GOES INTO A DITCH.

So... Mr Off-Duty Policeman waving his ID badge in front of my helmet... did you ever consider that the van driver's paranoia might have been a little misplaced?

Grumblegrumblegrumble. 250km of careful cornering and I get berated for bad judgement on the way home.

J, the reason why they thought you cut it a bit fine, is cause they aren't used to having things flying through gaps in the traffic in front of them, it's not your bad judgement, as a motorcycle can turn at an intersection in a much smaller gap than a car, for the reason that they are nippier, and smaller. This does unsettle the nerves of car drivers, but that's not our fault/problem unless Mr Plod tries to make it our problem. Did he try to do you for careless use? I hate it when they try to get all righteous on you and stick you for something lame, and stuff that they would have done themselves at some stage (like going 62 in a 50), how do they sleep at night knowing that they are just being a bunch of pricks most of the time.

And yeah I don't bother going to doctors any more cause the only thing I get from them is a "rest it" comment and that'll be $xxx. My last injury was a dislocated big toe (my bike fell on it the last time I came off), I never bothered going to the doctors cause you just get the "rest it" comment. However, on the other hand if you actually break a bone, you're definitely better off going to the doctors so they can straighten you out.

    Quick search of Google says:

PRESCRIBED FOR: Nortriptyline is used to elevate the mood of patients with depression. Nortriptyline is also a sedative and is useful in depressed patients with insomnia, restlessness, and nervousness. It also has been found to be helpful for treating chronic pain and the pain of neuralgia.

So RR was it for the pain or depression ?

If you're not filling the script can I have it ? :sly: Still on daily doses of pain killers for the back and the Brufen isn't quite doing the trick !!

In low doses it's a nerve membrane stabiliser - which is the main reason she's prescribing it to me. But I am just a tad depressed that I can't go riding at the moment. I might look at filling the prescription when chemists are open again. At the moment I'm using a Tens machine and getting quite a bit of relief with it.

There are times when it's not a good thing.

A mate of mine had a pretty female doctor when he went for his first ever std test. As you can imagine he spent the whole time saying to himself "think nonsexy thoughts, think nonsexy thoughts", all the while the doctors face was a foot away from his penis.

    On that note: Merry Christmas...
