Not-at-fault crash - do I bother notifying the Police?

last time i got entered in the anus with no lube at the traffic lights, rang the cops at the scene just to be on the safe side, and they couldnt even be bothered driving 400 metres up the road to check it out.

they said if nobody is, hurt / drunk / or on P, just let insurance sort it out, and they took no details.

Reporting a crash
If you are involved in a crash while driving, and you are not badly injured, the first thing you must do is stop and check to see if anyone is hurt, and provide assistance.

If someone is hurt, you must tell a police officer as soon as possible and no later than 24 hours after the crash.

If no one is hurt, you must give your name, address and vehicle registration (and, if asked, the name and address of the owner of the vehicle you are driving, if it isn't your vehicle) as soon as possible but no later than 48 hours after the crash to:

the owner or driver of any other vehicle that has been damaged
the owner of any property that has been damaged.
If you can't find these people, you must tell a police officer as soon as possible and no later than 60 hours after the crash.

If your vehicle is insured, tell your insurance company as soon as possible after the crash.

Bugger! My advice - always report to police and preferably have then turn up and file a crash report. That way the insurance companies know from the police point of view as to who was at fault after interviewing both drivers/witnesses/crash scene analysis (however basic or complex as circumstances and heat of doughnuts + BP coffee dictates) etc.

Amazing how 'oh-so-nice' people like this can have a sudden change of mind after they get home and hubby climbs into them for admitting fault and convinces them it 'woulda been that idiot on the motorbikes fault'

So reporting asap is always your best bet - even if only to placate insurance company.
