For what it's worth I can get the same mileage out of the EB Falcon as the TLS.Shocking really, but it shows how much more development Suzuki got out of the fuel injection.(And Ford for that matter)Riding for economy on the TL feels stupid.Sixth ,at revs that doesn't feel like its labouring ,is license losing territory. With todays price of gas I'm a little jealous that an SV is that much more economical.Twenty years ago I was comparing the economy of my Z1000R against my Vauxhall Viva and the mileage is similar.

Cant hardly believe the mileage I'm getting. 49mpg or 17-18km/L
Thats just one full tank, 17L and 7 litres to top it up when I get home after doing 416km.
This is the 3rd check on fuel I've done and I constantly get this economy on long runs, I dont figure im going slow but in saying that I don't often rev it above 5-5500rpm, mind you thats 140 kmh in top gear, not that you get much time in 6th gear on the loop, a fair bit of 1st / 2nd gear stuff at times
I know you can talk about fuel consumption till the cows get home, but just wondering what other 1000cc V-twins bikes are getting to the litre/ mpg
I was always told I could expect to get 35-40mpg, maybe Im am a soft cock and not riding the bike to its limit, but I guess would have to be hammering it to get down to 35-40Mpg.
PS. no other vehicle / bike passed me all day, so I wasn't going that slow.
I get only 13 – 15km/L on my SV1000S when commuting. I got an all time best of 18km/L recently when going up from Wellington to Turangi, but this was on a very sedate trip with a friend who has recently passed his test. It felt a bit odd to be riding so slowly, instead of giving it some. It did leave plenty of time to admire the scenery, and I must admit I quite enjoyed it.

18km/L is OK but 23km/L is making me jealous, mind you I have a XL250 Honda and that is bloody amazing, never done a test on it but seems to work out to about 1L/ per hour of travelling, must be at least 60-70km /L, but they say you pay for power, and that bike doesn't have much. But for commuting around town its just great, what with petrol $2.09/litre

    Well I don't count. I'm not a litre, or a cruiser.
And it was my first ever full tank of gas.

    202k's out of a 14L tank.

    14.5 k's/L

I recall someone saying bandits are thirsty?
    Seriously. Wtf.
