    2008 XT660Z Tenere

    Hello everyone,
I started to work out how can I import a 2008 XT660Z Tenere for myself from Europe.
I could get a price approximately NZD $12000 and the shipment approximately NZD $650.
The bike will be sent in a box as it coming out from the factory in Japan so assembly required here + vin + rego. Anyone is interested?

Make sure it has NZ/Aus compliant lights etc, otherwise it will be a headf**k to vin and warrant.

    I wouldn't guarantee that

After all the latest Translap don't comply, they are waiting for headlight for them

If you really want heavy and ugly, get a KLR650. Is fuel injection and the extra front disk really worth over $3000?

I could put Ohlins or WP on my KLR for that and still have money left over.

    and from the ADVrider thread...
Ok, everyone who would like one of these, take a deep breath and hold it. That's right, don't breathe in or out until you've got one. OK? Good.

The latest AMCN reveals the following :

183 kg DRY! Boy, there must be heaps of value in there to pork it up like that. Heavier than an R1. And a quoted 210 kg wet.

$11,428 on road in Europe. Yep, eleven and a half grand. For a motor/gearbox combo that's been around for 15-odd years. It will cost more here, guaranteed.

Quote : "Perhaps surprisingly, there are no plans yet to send it further afield to Australia and the USA because building 6000 examples of the Tenere per year is the absolute ceiling for Yamaha Italia's Lesmo operation and, such is the demand for the new bike, the first year's supply has been snapped up by European importers."

And another one : "the Tenere's motor soon betrays its relatively humble output when you start attacking gradients with its 210 kg fully wet package, where, in spite of the fact there was no luggage strapped onto the bike, it definitely struggled to climb hills. With only 35kw on tap, it'd be a bit of a slog getting anywherwe at all with a passenger and/or a tightly packed set of the optional hard luggage"

it's not a bad thing till you throw a KLR into the mix.

Still 20% more power and 15% more torque than the DR.
    20% more weight too.

    And the DR weighs?...
The KLR is 172Kg (claimed) dry - in reality 193 with a full tank. thats on the picton ferry weighbridge. Bog stock power is 34 rear wheel HP

On the CCA last month I would much rather have had 20 less kilos than 20 more HP

The DR weighs about 150kg(ish?) with half a tank. (37hp rear wheel)
TransAlper and I weighed ours at Werewolfs once but I can't remember the exact numbers.

    Hi pete376403,
The 210kg wet + package really does not sounds good. Just started to collect all the details and I found a few other disturbing technical things around the bike. :-(
