The way I see it, what you really want - no wait, need, - is a kawasaki. Believe me, you'll be hooked. (says the guy riding an R1... but I not-so-secretly want another kawa... there's just something slightly animal about all the green bikes I've had that no other brand has quite matched for me)

    CBR out of that lot...

Glad you left the 675 off the list though. Its going to be hard enough getting one in my budget without yet another bastard to complete with

I reckon you need to buy my 06 ZX636 which is for sale at AFC motorcycles in Palmerston Nth, good power for the road, comfortable, new tyres etc. Choice of 2 to choose from - you know you want to.

I have ridden the 675 & to be honest didnt think too much of it,especially considering it costs at least 5k more than the Japanese 600's, good midrange, power flat up top, hard as seat couldnt imagine doing to many km's in a day on it, brakes same as most other 600's, quite narrow handlebars again uncomfortable if doing big trips - just my opinion. Pete from WMCC understands I'm a bit biased towards the green machines.

Honestly, forget about all those 600's and seek out a lowish milage KTM SuperDuke, same sort of horsepower as the latest 600's but loads more torque, more comfortable, easy to ride and i'd hazard a guess the they'd be more fun to ride.

While I don't disagree with your comments, that's a bloody big jump from a 250. McJims choice or an SV650 seems much more appropriate.

I'm not against people having fun, I just get pissed off reading all those "biker down" threads...

No more horsepower than the 600's easyier to ride and you don't have to do warp speed to enjoy yourself on a SuperDuke hence the suggestion of said bike. I don't disagree with the SV650 though.
You'll keep getting pissed off with the biker down thread then because as unfortunate at it is it comes along with the territory.
I do understand where you are coming from though.

$5000 more? Time to recalibrate your calculator.

The 675 Daytona was selling for $17,680 over the last 2 years, until the current special offer this month of $16,990. Current new R6 is $17,495. New CBR600 is $16,795.
New Street triple is only $14,990..

Hard to beat that for European quality and value.

I was referring to the price difference of the Kawasaki & the Triumph, especially when the Triumph first came out, as now Kawasaki dont make the 636 anymore. Really I just didnt like the 675 it didnt agree with me, & I cant see why people rave about them - my opinion.

It's always down to personal taste. I've owned three 636s.

1van1van hasn't told us what his intended use of a 600 is? commuting only, touring/\?, track days? carry a pillion?

It's been said so many times. They are all so close just buy whatever one that looks best to you. Oh, and make it a red one, they are faster.

It seems to me it's all a matter of personal opinion, taste, etc...

I think the best idea is to go and try them all out. Have a good look over them. Go for a good test ride. Then decide.

Certainly that is what I am going to do when the time comes!
