    Napier-Taupo Rd CLOSED! (24 May)

The Po Po 50 have closed SH5 because of a major slip just south of the Mohaka bridge, theres also flooding and rocks on the road near Te Pohue.

Not that I needed to get to Taupo tomorrow for the start of the Atrix winter series or anything........................CRAP!

    Angry

    Yep Here: 6.45pm 24/5

Location of incident: State Highway 5

    Incident type: Road Closure

Further the earlier media release Police can advise that State Highway 5, Napier/ Taupo Road is Now CLOSED. The road is closed as the result of a large slip coming down and blocking both lanes at a point 7 kms South of Mohaka Bridge. At this point no diversions re in place as there is no way around the slip.
One vehicle was struck by the slip as it came down. No persons were injuried in this incident.
Please advise all motorists not to travel this road.
    Issued By: Inspector Ken Climo

May the bridges I burn light the way.
