    Ardmore in the news...

    http://www.stuff.co.nz/4553375a11.html

Welcome to the world of motocross, where spectators enter at their own risk.

    Someone tell the news that.

(This is a bitch to news reports/media, not to the spectator/rider, all the best to them)

fark pretty stink. Hope she's all good after all the healing. Shows ya that you don't have to ride to get hurt huh. Wonder where on the track she was because most people spectate from behind the wodden fence.

the person hit was a rider who was watching, i have heard the name but do not think it is the time or the place to to post it,

it is not a good thing to happen but it can happen anywhere in our sport, my thoughts are to her and her family,

I was there and she(and many others) were watching about were you drop on to the track on practice days......the bike ended up in the ditch that runs parallel to the metal road that goes to the start gate....it was awful to see her and the rider laying prone and the distress of her family around her.I really hope things turn out for the best and my thoughts and sympathies go out to all impacted by this....

How can the SCU get involved when it is not a public road or a registered vehicle.

All the best to injured riders and the AMA club.

I hope a few things here:

That the girl gets better and there's no lasting effects.

Coming from a Karting background, I thought that things where a bit less controlled around mx. When I first started I was amazed at how little flag control there was. How guys on practice days seemed to be able to wander off and on the tracks anywhere. I saw a prang at one of the major events where one guy had an off, then about 4-5 other guys landed on him after a blind jump over about 30+ secs until a official came running from another part of the track and started waving his arms at the top of the jump.
Coming from the strict flags on every corner, never mix juniors and seniors, hand up and only ever depart at one track point, atmosphere, this seemed a little loose to me and I considered not letting my kids do MX. It was only for the genuine and obvious, help, carefulness and consideration on the track you get from other riders. I saw riders stop to help kids, stop and run down the track to warn other riders, stop and park on an angle to warn others and protect the fallen, this made the difference. This is really just an observation I'm not going to criticize any track or organisation but compared to Karting there is quite a bit less control and track etiquette.

The Final thing is, I hope to hell this doesn't give the people Against Ardmore enough ammo to shut it down. Its a great place to go and the very last MX track remotely close to the city.

Thoughts are with the poor kid that got clobbered it ain't a good place to stand down there after those jumps. Poor old John might be in a bit of trouble?
On a Motorcycle you're penetrating distance, right along with the machine!! In a car you're just a spectator, the windshields like a TV!!

'Life's Journey is not to arrive at the grave safely in a well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, totally worn out! Shouting, ' Holy sh!t... What a Ride!! '

i wouldve thought as a rider, she would know that where she was standing couldve been particularly dangerous, i also wouldve thought that if in fact she was paying attention, she whould know what a dude about to crash looks like and move accordingly.

i feel sorry for the guy riding if anyone has been questioning him or whatever, he was just there riding his bike, he cocked up, thats motorsport.
MOTOR RACING IS DANGEROUS, SPECTATORS ATTENDING DO SO ENTIRELY AT THEIR OWN RISK yadda yadda yadda

That's a bit harsh Boooom,it happened so fast i doubt anyone would have time to react and move....agreed nobody can blame the rider but as i said earlier she was one of many people watching from there..... she was just a kid enjoying the sport she obviously loves and she was just the very unlucky person who was hit.......by the way does anybody know how she's doing ?

i dont really think its anyones fault, the fact of the matter is shit happens from time to time, and incidents like this sure as shit dont need media coverage or police investigation.

the only time you ever see anything mx related in the news is when 'some poor innocent person' gets run down by a bike

    not a good image.

    your a hard man!

iv gone off that corner before, luckly it was at the end of a practice night and not the start, cause i flew out of the berm right where all the juniors would have been waiting to go out.
i think i got more of a fright than the flag martial i just missed.
that corners been an accident waiting to happen me says.

I agree it's not a good image but unfortunatly bad media coverage and Police investigations are just a sign of the times.I work in an industry where safety regulations are suffocating and OSH say..... there is no such thing as an accident....and when they happen organisations like OSH and the Police want to hold someone accountable, unfortunatly this way of thinking has filtered into our personal lives.........like a woman who's kids were killed when she had a car crash last year....she was charged with manslaugther......i hope everything ends well for the rider, the AMA and the girl who was hit
