UMMMM . well as long as there are bike's that do 300k there will be rider's that will push their bike's & themselves to the MAX . Have heard that been chased & chasing is very addictive ?? Just as well we all are slow careful LAW abiding rider's on here that don't do runner's from Police etc

Dunno about the bike scene. But the car scene was around in my parents day. They had a purple Anglia with a 1600 Cortina engine in it. Yes they did rallies, and took it round Ruapuna, but they also did the illigal races at Brighton, etc.

This shit ain't new, I'm sure some of our ansesstors(sp?) did illigal horse racing here and there back in their day.

I don't think vids, or the internet can even remotely be held responsible.

It's like anything. Some people are happy to do a bungie jump once. Others have to go for a tandem skydive, for some the adrenaline only kicks in if they're jumping by themselves. Right to the extreme of base jumpers, and seeing that cliff face/building zoom by at 200kph 2 metres away.

The tractor matey, it's slower and you would never hold you head up if you got hit be one, now a Harley is a different story, it's fast and anyone would sympathise with you when you got hit by one that arrived that quick that you didn't have time to move - sort of a fast tsunami!!

Back around the 80s there was a bit of an underground movement about Auckland to Wellington, and the other way too, around 5.5 hrs was common, but I don't know what the ultimate time was.Not relavent these days as the roads are straighter and many more cops.
