Electric start small bike

Hi People. I need some help to sort a bike for my 77 year old uncle. He has a bad hip and is currently riding an XT 250 (220). It has a seat height of 810 mm and is getting to hard for him to handle off the road. A bit heavy as well. This is for the farm. He has a Zuki 150 scooter that is great but too light in construction for off road. A Honda postie type bike should be great for him but it needs to be electric start. Any ideas? Please post make and model so I can have a look at them and get one to try for him. I would go for new if I could find a step through with electric start that could handle some off road stuff.

Low seat heights are all relative; the sherp's seat is actually 20mm higher than the XT's.

An agricultural spec CT110 (the one with low ratio, not the postie one) would be excellent, if they have the magic button. Honda Australia's website doesn't say anything about the starter, but if it did have an e-start, it would likely be on their list of features - given that dubious features like "smooth torque curve for controllability" are listed.
Someone more mechanically minded may have an idea of whether an electric start retrofit would be possible or not.

Another idea - I once saw a trademe auction for a yamaha S-something-225 (or 250, I forget), which appeared to be the XT225 engine, in a scrambler-like bike. It would have a much lower seat than the XT, but still have some degree of off road ability. It's the only one I'd seen, or heard of, so they may not be common.

Hi Jimmy. Thanks for your reply. I have 2 Yamaha AG200 bike on the place at the moment. There seat height is 820mm. Higher than the XT and the seat is wide. That inhibits the hip because he has to swing it so far across the wide seat. Also the rear shock on the AG200 lays across the frame and gives a much harder ride. Tuff on the old boys back. But many thanks for the input.

Thank you for your reply. I will get on Google and have a look. I note my son's RG, race bike, looks like it is set up for an electric start. I will investigate that a bit more. Anyone know if they came out with the electric starter fitted? I will Google that as well. Cheers Rosie and thanks

I had no idea what that was so Goggled it. I recon that could be the one. I have been looking for a while and not come up with anything. Even our local shops had nothing to do the job. Go the K/B members who know their stuff. This is fantastic.

Yes we looked at them. Had one for a trial but with our country being so steep it is dangerous for him. I don’t have one because of the chance of rolling them. If it tips over here it is going to roll for a long time. We are on the Napier side of the devils elbow on the Wairoa road. The hills on your right, as you go up the first of the hill are ours, as you go North. Big hills. But thanks for input.

Sticking with the Yamaha theme, what about one of the TTR125s? Big and small wheel, both electric start, both very good bikes. More designed with kids or smaller people in mind I think but good on the farm. I had a good go on one a month or so back.
