    Acceleration - slow its a 150 4 stroke.

Handling - good for a round town commuter, on the open road you gotta have a bit of balls to push them, in saying this i used to race one on road tyres.

Top speed - 140 indicated, but at that speedi think they have a 17kph over read, from memory. But will happily sit on an actual 110-120 kph all day.

Etc etc - will run on the smell of an oily rag, a good way to learn bike maintenaince yoursel, very easy to work on, very simple. A good stepping stone before moving to a bigger bike, but i would say do not go bigger than 400cc on the next bike after an fxr, if you jump straight to something like a 600 sports you will get a shock, the good thing about fxr's is they handle like a proper sportsbike, unlike gn250's with your hand around your ears.

ps....fxr's are faster than gn 250's...

They appear to be good bikes. They area good learner bike with (for a light person) a top speed up around 130 ish and seem to be ideal for a first bike or a commuter in dork land.

    Topspeed: 150kph.
Max comfortable cruising speed: around 130kph
Acceleration 0 to 100kph: around 7-8seconds depending on the riders weight.
    Handling: Can't really compare...
Reliablility: It's easy I guess... Many people says its an easy bike to maintain.

    Anything else?

If you can make it on Kiwibiker you can make it anywhere.

    Thanks Guys,
That has really helped! I'd been searching on the internet for the info but had had no success.

I love mine, learnt to ride on it and now use it as my commuter. Could rave for hours about it but wont. I took it on the capital cruise - did 1000km in one day on it and we came mid pack.

While it isn't the fastest it is agile, can get in and out of traffic no trouble and you can really throw it around corners.

Ok you need a run up around the hills but you can keep up with the big boys (if they wait at the top of the hill for you)

Good bike. Was my learner bike, had a lot of fun with it, awesome to learn - light and easy, my current 600cc was a bit of shock after FXR but just for a while.

An absolute cracker of a bike that adds up to way more than the sum of its parts - it just shouldn't be as good as it is!

As said will out-muscle a GN, not by that much though. Has no problem keeping up on the motorway and out accelerating most cars *in town*. Overtakes on the open road require careful planning and execution.

So delightfully light and flickable - fun to get on after a heavy, powerful bike - you just THINK about going round the corner and round it goes, changing line at any stage you please.

Something like 30-33km/L, even with my 90+ kg self thrashing it.

Drawbacks - feeble headlights, feeble mirrors, seat not great for long journeys, stock tyres are appallingly bad (change these immediately if they're still on - which they might be, as they NEVER wear out, 'cos they're made of recycled plastic or some such nasty substance)

Close to the perfect learner bike for those intending to move on to sports-style bikes.

I couldn't recommend one more highly (other than the drawbacks which any bike will have some of)
