You see something new every day...

It's been a rather cold day in Christchurch, I'm sure anyone biking to work today can confirm this!

I took the bike in to work this morning and despite wearing woolen undies, good socks, thermal glove liners, a good sweater, etc. it was still pretty damn fresh.

Anyway, since we were going to a friends farewell do this evening my partner picked me up in the car and we drove to the venue.
On out way I saw this guy riding a cruiser through central Christchurch. Now this guy must be a different kind of life form altogether, get this:

    T-shirt.
    No gloves.
    Crocs.
    No socks.
    Open face helmet.

I mean, holy shit - sure if he gets cold he can always lay it down and enjoy some friction heating, but then again... It probably was around 7 degrees celsius and pretty damp.

Electric vest liner make my body nice and toasty... Some day I may even go for the grip warmers; someday...
Crocs, what's up with those? A friend and his gf wear the same coloured crocs. Looks totally lame

There is a difference between feeling a good frost and being able to feel your nuts......

Maybe he was on a test ride or a mechanic on a quick shakedown run.

The most likely explanation is that he is clinically insane, the crocs are a dead giveaway.

The guy was probably from Invercargill and considered Chch the "tropical north".

Saw that at a conference in Wellytown a couple of years back. We Aucklanders were freezing out tits off, the Welly guys were wrapped up - but looking comfortable, but the Invercargillian was walking about in short sleeves... AND SWEATING!

Hmmmm. Torn between saying he's just another tough cruiser rider and blaming it in temporary insanity as we're normally smart enough to get the ATGATT message....

Definitely not, most certainly his own bike and he looked comfortable enough.

I doubt anyone would have been sweating standing around outside in Chch yesterday.

    ...tui?

All that said, he was carrying some insulation - he was by no means a small guy! ...still it ought to have been bloody cold regardless. I was entertaining the thought that he might be drunk though - Beer Gear (TM) really works a treat.

A girlfriend once asked " Why is it you seem to prefer to race, than spend time with me ?"
The answer was simple ! "I'll prolly get bored with racing too, once i've nailed it !"
