Aaron did have a good point bro, and im pretty sure that alot of bikers on this site have done The RUNNER at least once, me more than a few thats for sure and yeah i paid my fines, lost my licence (eh twice ).
But i think you'll also find that alot of people on this site are more of the older wiser type (no offence peeps) and dont really get off too much on this kinda stuff being talked about on this site, there are other sites around where this stuff is all they talk about but not this one.
I dont think it's really fair for you to come onto this site as a new member and start calling people "cocksuckers" etc, and as for nana's well there are more than a few rather fast riders on this site. I know evreyone is entitled to there opinons for sure but yeah i think a majority of peeps on this site dont appreciate that kinda talk, so most of us keep it the minimum/or not at all to keep the peace and enjoy riding with the people we meet, as i'm sure you're meet some pretty kick arse people on this site. As i have.

Yeah well put LB Mate! You get my mark.

Id also like to say that along with what bruce said of people being the older wiser type often means they dont feel the need to brag/post crap about how the last 174 times they have run from those bloody cops who cant catch squat all. Infact i would even go as far as saying maybe they have noticed that we have a few HP guys signed up here, + ive heard dirty rumours of unsigned-up HP guys checking here!.. Theres a time and a place for everything, i wouldnt want anything i did that could come and bite me in the butt later on to be recorded on here.

And finally for my view? Yeah-Nah. Ill admit when ive seen the cop go passed me and know i was speeding... watching my mirrors as he indicates to do a U turn... its run through my head, change down change down, gas gas gas whats coming up next when can i next turn right? But my sense has always gotten the better of me (thankfully in every case) and i have pulled over, infact the time before last (first time, it doesnt happen often) by the time i realised he was pulling over and we had passed eachother at 100odd kmph each way and some thoughts of where i could run to had gone thru my head he was literally right behind me at the next glance in the mirror! was a smack back to reality that my little 400 isnt the shiznit, and that chances are a trained HP cop in his HP car could probably do my favourite set of twisties faster then me (those buggers have like 225's man!)

Meh, maybe my perception of reality is harsh but id rather it be that way then be living in a dream world.

This is reposted without permission from the LABiker mail list. Incredible accident scene photo. I'd bet wherever it's served from is gonna have problems cause this one is gonna get cross posted everywhere. Luckily, nobody died.
Here's the story from LABiker Brandon:

This photo is from a group ride yesterday (Sunday). A bunch of friends from Springfield, MO went for a group ride in northern Arkansas. Great roads, great weather, great day for a ride. Unfortunately an unknown 'new kid' on a 600RR joined the ride, with a a horrible ego/skill ratio. The guys were afraid to mention it to him, out of politeness I guess.

They should have. His riding ended up causing tens of thousands in damage, probably hundreds of thousands in medical, and only by the grace of God was no one killed. BARELY.

This is a shot taken at the scene of the accident, mere seconds after the crash. 'Bo' (lower left corner, *UNDER* the truck), is the new CBR 600RR rider that overcooked the corner and proceeded to lowside and wedge himself *under* the Chevy.

The older white Ford in the photo veered into the oncoming lane to go around the wreck, decided against it, and started backing down the hill. This is where Jason (Duc rider, Springfield Police Officer) met the truck, 1/2 way around the corner. Jason jumped from the bike just before impact, and ended up with his head/shoulder through the windshield. Paul (following behind Jason) hit the old Ford as well, though didn't sustain as much damage.

Luckily the other riders knew enough not to move ANYONE, so they left Bo under the truck, and Jason on the hood. Bo might lose his right arm; the doctors haven't decided yet. Jason was conscious the whole time, but understood not to move. Good thing. He's got a fractured C7 vertabra (I think the same thing that happened to Christopeher Reeves).

So...next time you think it's rude or impolite to tell that 'over his head' rider to cool down or screw off, think of this.

    End Quote

well I'll let u all make up your own mind... But I reserve the right to refuse riding with anyone who is deemed to be a danger to themselves or others

After reading this entire thread, the conclusions I draw have bugger all to do with motorcylcing, and more to do with human nature. Why is it that many people have a complete intolerance for others whose views don't happen to agree with their own?

I understand that Aaron does the runner... so what? Those who vehemently disagree respond with insults. Will that stop him from doing the runner? I doubt it.

Hell, I've had the best part of 15 years of "input" into my driving/riding habits. This includes race/rally (cars), driving/riding instructors, mates, parents, inlaws, girlfriends, workmates (incl the CEO), lawyers, cops, even my daughter told me off for spinning it up in a 4WD Lancer (for the record, it was a slippery intersection!)

But yesterday in that same Lancer (minus the daughter) I was travelling at a speed that would surely draw insults from some of the forum users here. And were I not on holiday at the moment, I would be hitting similar speeds almost every day on the way to work on my bike. And had a cop jumped out of the bushes?? I'm damn sure the options would have been calculated pretty fast in my head - and losing my license for the 4th time is not high on my priority list.

Interesting that people chose to insult/degrade and fall back on saying that "oh, yeah, I did that years ago but now i'm older and wiser and i know better so you're just a #%&*@". Well in 10 or 20 years time when we're older and wiser, we'll probably agree. But did you listen back in the days? I sure as hell didn't!!

The very long-winded point i had, I guess, is tolerance. Act like adults for god's sake!!!!

    Arrow Wow.

"I'll take on any bike with my Pajero....Micheal Schumacher taught me how to drive - you are allowd two moves - one to knock the wanker off his bike, another to back up and finish him off."

I've got a Toyota Surf, but I've never thought of using it like that before Now I'll use it to pick up a fallen rider and also his/her bike. I think I've had enough of this thread as it is getting pretty pathetic and I would have hope that maybe some people would have known better?
Those who insist on perfect safety, don't have the balls to live in the real world.

Well only being 20 and still class myself as invincible (ummm??) I still wouldnt run from the cops.

I have so much to lose. My job, car, BIKE, relationship, friends. I live away from most forms of transport if I lose my licence I mean, Blenheim doesnt even have a bus service to help me out.

So Im just glad to say that my common sense gets the better of me everytime a policeman turns around. But in saying that, I dont mean to say that others have less common sense than me or anyone else for that matter. If you think you can run from the cops and get away, good on ya, you have a good story to tell at the next BBQ or down at the pub. But if you do it at the safety expense of others, you are a real wanker and deserve to be caught and put off the road!!

But thats my opinion and you can decide for yourself if Im right or wrong. I dont like pointing fingers but I do sit on the side and watch and learn

    Death cometh sooner or late
And how can a man die better
    Than facing fearful odds
For the ashes of his fathers
And the temples of his Gods

    Well you said it!
You are obviously one to not think of your daughter and family OR have THEM high on your priority list. It also seems you will lose your license again with your current attitude.

I always seem to have demerit points! and at the moment 75 of them
    BUT
I alter my driving behaviour a bit so as not to lose my license. I rather love my freedom of being able to get where I want when I want and not having to rely on others or risk driving without a license

I agree with this thread and think no one should be pointing the finger at anyone saying "he/she should do that and he/she should do this"...at the end of the day it's a difference of opinion..........no ones asking you to go to war over it.
On the topic of the Police & Driving habits; There are Police members members here who may know other Police who have bad driving habits, as there are motorcyclists with bad riding habits.
I know of a few while off duty who have done 'runners' in their cars & bikes from their mates. In one instance I heard of a member who overturned his car after a jug night, was tracked by a dog handler mate to an address but would'nt' come out.
During the mid to late eighties cops in Wellington would on a night-shift, chase each other around the Wellington Streets in the early hours, throwing eggs and rotten veges at each other from their patrol cars, driving at excessive brek-neck speeds, up one way streets, using their lights & sirens etc etc,to alleviate boredom and increase moral.
There are numerous war stories such as these, that show the Police themselves are not exempt when it comes to the misuse of speed, most of us in fact have seen it in the news how 'senior' Police members have been caught speeding...in some cases quite seriously. The point is that before anyone here slams 'anyone' for their behaviour, a self anaylsis of your own behaviour can be a very sobering thing!
