    Walking the dog

Highly recommended pastime... must do it more often!

I took my dog, Rusty, for a walk to the shop yesterday and came back with the promise of a free bike.

a couple of hours later I had an non-started unregisterd 1990 CBR600 with 7 years of cobwebs on my driveway. Total cost 4 cans of DB!

    1/2 hour later she started!

Just need to free up the front disks and give the carbs a clean and it should be a runner!!!

how happy can I be - to be given the bike of the dreams of my youth!

    Cool Well done.....

But, what will it cost you to re register it and also get her up to WOF standard?
If the bike has been sitting for that long, what are the tyres like as well....

You paid too much. At least it was only DB
Do you realise how many holes there could be if people would just take the time to take the dirt out of them?

    Yeah. Reckon.
I got my XBR500RS Mutant with no beer changing possession (apart from the beers I was provided when I painted my sister's roof).

But then I guess it was only 5/6th of the bike the CBR is....
    ... and that's what I think.

    Or summat.

    Or maybe not...

    Dunno really....

Tyres are completely wasted... the front is down to the canvas on the sides...

After a quick calc worst case scenario would be:

    Battery $50
    Fork dust seals $25
    Fork oil seals $39
    Tyres f150 + r200
    Sparkplugs $114 (bloody 'ell!)
    oilfilter 23
    breakpads (fullset) 180
    chain 160
    sprockets 90
    fluids 50

On road costs 300 (wof, reg + test etc)

    total $1342

    Plus paint... cost dunno...

So, not so free really, but it is a darn fine excuse to have another bike!

excellent score, when the bike is wofed and regd it is still a damned fine deal for what it has cost you.
