I don't care how anyone puts, a 200kg bike travelling at speeds in excess of 200km/hr is going to kill someone if the runner gets it wrong. We had proof of that last year.
If you're going to discuss "human nature" please bear in mind that we are only physically capable of instantly responding to a situation at speeds of less than 12 mph. Over that, reaction time becomes an increasingly important factor. We had a graphic example of how a speeding bike, doing a runner from the cops, can kill an "innocent bystander" and do horrendous damage to the vehicle it struck.
I've got kids. I'm not going to lie down and say that it's OK for someone to add yet another thing to the list of stuff that can kill them needlessly (it's always needless btw). Especially if it is preventable by doing something simple like stopping when you get pinged. Respect for the law of the country you live in is the cornerstone of civilisation. Giving in to personal desires to avoid punishment is a slippery slope.
Running is stupid. It puts you at risk, the cop chasing (who also doesn't need to add yet another risk factor to their already risky job) at risk, and everybody you flash by at supersonic speed at risk. That fundamental lack of respect for well known limitations on "personal freedom" (speed limits), and the fundamental lack of respect for the consequences of your actions is what got me riled up.
There are better ways to commit suicide, and less random ways to kill someone. Oh yeah, that's right I forgot. Everybody who answers to the negative of my point will no doubt claim that their huge personal skill on a motorcycle will allow them to avoid any potential problem. Yeah right.
