I saw them driving past my house 4 times the next day.... And its here at Gulf Harbour!!!!!

If we can all keep an eye on cars and license plates, and share them here, we might reduce and maybe catch these scam-bags!!!
Still waiting. How can we keep an eye out for these guys if you don't share what you have seen? Don't ask us to share what we have seen and then not do so yourself. So tell us more about the 4x4 trucks, make, colour, license plates, description of passengers? Come on mate your not making it any easier for us to keep an eye out.

Twice the displacement, twice the cost and a decibel problem, I'll pass on the inside brraaaap!!!

Well this case has inspired me to action. I've installed a ground anchor and all my bikes are chained with decent locks and chains. I've also made a note of the frame numbers.

Could anyone tell me if standard house contents insurance covers bike theft from home ? I should call my insurer really...

Bikes are NOT covered under normal house insurance as far as I know. cause it has a motor its classed needs to be insured under automotive policies.

Thanks for that! At least we can keep an eye out for them. Problem is nothing that the cops will do until they are actually seen doing something. At least we can be aware of them. Perhaps follow them and wait for them to appear to be doing a crime? Who the heck has the time?

Top of john gills road about 4 house down from sandspit end. white garage door

From reports reckonj they went at about 0300ish on 03/06/08 tuesday night. It was raining quite heavily so probably used that as we didn't here a thing. Reckon they used a scanner to open up the garage door.

You only need two tools in life - WD-40 and Duct Tape.
If it doesn't move and should, use the WD-40.
If it shouldn't move and does, use the duct tape.

House insurance ( contents) will cover them IF you have them as named items else see star insurance.
I've been lucky or have a sympathetic insurer - they will cover each item up to $2500 - doesnt cover the bigger bikes obviously but just about covers the smaller ones. Its better than nothing. They would have covered them if I had them as specfied items.

Shit you are lucky to be getting some money out of them. I'm going to talk to my insurance company about named items. Who are you insured with?

If/when we get some more bikes I will insure them with star insurance. I think they sponsor the sandpit. You can get a quote and pay on line. At least they will give an agreed value for each bike and are specialist at ensuring bikes. Its not cheap about $330.00 per bike. Contents isn't much cheaper because they load the premiuim once you put the bikes on it. Being in the situation now i would have rather of obtained specialist insurance
Note the excess is $2000.00 though on each bike!

Oh and it only costs about $150ish oper bike to micro dot it.

Check out changing everythign to AMI A&R. They will insure a bike for $70 each, but you have to have house, contents and car with them. Worth a try anyway.
