    7 day open bike shops?

Are there any bike shops that are open 7 days? None in the Wellington area that I know of. Not for servicing needs but for retail. Most retail outlets are open 7 days including car yards. Saturday & Sunday are quite often their largest turnover days.
Why not bike shops? Isn't there the demand for it? With the popularity of bikes on the rise will the demand be there?

Motomail is open. Sometime busy - sometimes quiet.

The main issue is working Sundays is just a bitch.

ANZA in Palmerston North is open seven days, largely due to the associated car sales yard.

If motorcycle retailers were a bit more innovative in terms of the terms and conditions of employment for their staff, seven day weeks would probably be a goer. However the current six-day arrangements many bike shop employees currently suffer is near enough to slavery without wanting to make things much more onerous. Apart from the occasional emergency, I am more than happy for folks to have a day off.

But that is what Retail is these days. I really thought that they'd want to stay open over weekends (just like any other retail store) as that's when people are gonna spend their money.

it's kinda a catch 22, for example i work 6 days and cant get to a shop till sunday, if the bikes broke or i need a part to ride then i'm stuffed for a sunday ride. have been known to pull a sicky just to get to a bike shop
    during the week.

I live 50 km's away from our shop but I will meet customers at the shop on a Sunday or public holiday if that is the only time they can get to Hamilton to pick up their new Motorcycle.

People at bike shops don't like working Sundays. Racing, family, riding, etc etc.

A happy staff of producers 5.5 - 6 days a week is more profitable than a pissed off one on a rotating 7 day roster.

I'd wager that most staff of retail outlets don't like working Sunday's. In saying that, people choose to work Sunday's. It's stated at the time of interview so it's no surprise to them.

I am amazed that more shops don't close on a Monday and stay open for the weekend.
The number of times Frosty had me go to Henderson Motorcycles to pick up parts for a bike cause he was working on.

Could it be, that the staff are actually out riding? You know, they're just as passionate about riding as we are!

Tuesday would be better... then you can go in and get the bits you broke on the weekend

One of the best shops I go to is open 10-7 during the week, and 12-4 on the weekends. They're on to it.

As far as bike shop employees not liking to work weekends... boo freakin hoo... they're no different from any other retail shop employees. Bet they don't give a frig about 'families' when they're buying their petrol or groceries on a Sunday.

Sunday trading is covered in the 10 commandments anyway, and Sunday traders will burn... that's a better reason to get snotty about working it.
