Get some POR15 into that tank. I just used it to effectively stop a tank leak.

Reminds me of a story about my Step Dad.
When he was younger he had an old mini.
There was a bit of rust in the fuel tank, so he drained it, took the tank off and left it to dry out for three days.
Then he vaccumed the rust chips out of the tank.
There was a large BOOOM! and he came to to find his dad standing over him and a large hole in the garage wall where the vacumme cleaner had previously existed

The moral of the Story? Never Ever make assumptions about fuel tanks.

    Mate on that subject
Unless something has changed in the tank department then actually its got a pretty bodgy repair at back of tank.
That repair is being made worse by the lack of tank mounting rubbers
Now the bike is running well I'd be hauling the tank off and empty it clean all the crap off the back of it thats there.. Get it back to nice shiney metal again Then use propper 2 pot araldite to repair the holes -let it set propperly.
THEN replace the missing tank mount
This whole repair will cost ya $20 max but i bet the leak goes away.
MEANWHILE -mental image is a new carby linked to the old airbox--if this is the case then youre gonna be back at square one pretty soon --as the fuel leak fills the airbox -which drains the fuel down the crankcase breather into the engine --etc etc --you need to move the crankcase breather

When I test-rode it after fitting the CB carb, it was reasonably noisy, wouldn't call it a high-pitched noise though. Well, at high RPM of course. It is sort of a throaty roar, thumping in time with the piston? And it's almost silent with the throttle closed, but the more you open the throttle up it gets much louder?

At some point it'd be good for me or somebody else to do a plug chop, check pilot mixture as well etc., as it's only been roughly tuned with no pod filter on it yet. How's performance? Comparable to how it was before?

EDIT: P.S. Frosty, no airbox. Running a pod filter. Yes, I know

I cleaned all the crap out that was around the rear mount after talking to you Frosty. Looked like half dried bog.

Made 2 or 3 attempts with araldite at it, thought I had it only to find out later that is was still leaking. It is leaking right up under the rear mount, hard to get to. I also added some cut out bits of rubber to mount the tank on, as well as a bit for the front mount.

Ej - dented not leaking tank for $85.
