Yeah, I've been trying to ph those buggers for a couple of weeks but all I get is their fax. Apparently there is fuel there on Sunday, but only if you have a Mobilcard. But I have a plan B. 91 petrol will be available from the farm tank so those with limited range just need to bring some cash. $2.50/L would probably be reasonable.

5km towards Taupo on the other side of the road. See you there!

AND HOLD THE SPAG BOL! I've just got off the phone to Ann at Journey's End, I called up to check that there were a couple of big pots to cook our dinner in, but she was having none of that. Feeding 20 hungry bikers is no problem whatsoever apparently, they're just going to chuck 1/2 a sheep on the spit & roast up a pile of veges for us Previous MMMMM riders will know we're in for a treat There is already 6 doz beers sitting in the chiller for us too Bring $25 cash to cover the food, beer & accomodation at the station.

    Cheers
    Clint

Nope, there are more mattresses than I thought at the station, enough for everybody, so all you need is your sleeping bag.

    Cheers

Hi All, here are some maps that all starters should print out & bring along, also bring a road map if you don't know the area. I'll be PM'ing all the starters some further info; route description, ph numbers etc soon.

    Cheers

    Route Sheet & Info

Hi All, attached is some more info & a route description for people to follow.

We'll stick together for the first stage, as navigation can be tricky in the forest, but after a regroup at the Minginui turnoff people can go at their own pace & follow the directions & maps for the rest of the weekend. There will be regroups at the Tiniroto Pub Saturday arvo, the Station Sat night obviously, and the Hot Bread Shop Cafe in Opotiki on Sunday. Please ph/txt/leave a message if you bail out between any of these points as otherwise we will come looking for you.

I have PM'd all starters with my ph#, let me know if you didn't get it.

    Cheers
    Clint

I have plotted this as good as I can on the GPS, but cant seem to be able to post it............KB wont take a .gdb file..... thats what you get for a first attempt at making a GPS route....

I in NO WAY can guarantee the forest section across the back of the Kaiangaroa forest is correct, The GPS map is vague in that area... but it looks pretty close.....

Ummm guess if you want the file, get in touch!

Save the file as a .gpx file then change the .gpx to .doc and post it here with instructions to change the .doc back to .gpx. A gpx file is actually just a text file anyway (It can be open with notepad/wordpad/MSword etc etc).

Also a .gpx file is far more transferable to other software than a garmin .gdb file i.e. it can be opened with Google Earth. The .gpx is pretty much the standard non software specific gps data file.

    Yup, What he said

I found mapsource can open .doc files direct... so do that and svave to the file type you need, like gdb

Haha my dastardly plan worked - I now have a copy of your route for my website (we I get around to working on it again). What would be even better though is a copy of your trip log after you have done the ride with a sentence or two about each of the "routes" i.e. adv sections, not the seal bits.

    Confirmation.

Thanks for the last minute inclusion Clint. Maps downloaded. Will stay in Taupo Friday with one of the other riders and meet you lot on Saturday morning up the road. Joining some of the others for the 8am departure from the Autobarn on the M/way out of town. Saturday night just got even better thanks to your friends generosity. Looking forward to the ride rain or shine.

    Zeph.
