Thumbs up In for the long haul............

The best 3 days riding i've had, cheers to Iain & Brent for leading us on Friday & Clint for the whole trip.

The Motu and roads to Clints place today were magic. no major rain till I got 10k from home today.

To us 'Hard men' well done

Pic 1 - Duncan after first crash damage (not much of a smile after the second........)
    Pic 2 - Brent
    Pic 3 - Iain
Pic 4 - Fab 4 mid Motu Rd
    Pic 5 - Paul
    Pic 6 - Brent

anyone want high res pics let me know.

Oh yeah, I left Gary(DR650) at the Rotorua/Tauranga turnoff as the flat he fixed at Clints went flat again and he was going to call his wife to come get him so i hope she did!!

The First Rule of Forecasting: The Forecast is Always Wrong.

Well that turned out to be a very enjoyable weekend's ride despite the dire predictions. Thanks to all who came along, & full credit to Cary, Offrd & GLG who, out of the initial 20 odd intended starters were the only ones that lasted the whole distance The irony was that some of those who bailed for home probably struck worse weather than the keen ones that continued on the route!

If I get some time over lunch I'll start a trip report on advrider.

    Cheers
    Clint

    Winter fun.

Thanks Clint. Your farming friends were great hosts. The route around the north side of the lakes was a first for me and the earlier Stanley Road bypass through the forest was brillant.
The KLR ran sweet all weekend and I learnt a bit following Gary after lunch on the run into Wairoa. Bugger about the flat Gary.
Thanks to all for providing a reason to enjoy a winter break with a bunch of great guys.

    Thanks Clint 640

Clint, a sincere thank you for letting XR Johnny (DRZ 250) and myself
accompany you, and all the great guys whom we met, from Rangitaiki
    to Wairoa.
Jeremy,(KTM 950S) rode back with us to Hastings, along the way letting us test ride his KTM. A VERY nice bike! Its looks and passenger seat comfort also got the nod of approval from the Mrs when we took it home. Thanks JEZZA.

As discussed briefly, we can organise a Hawkes Bay ride for all who want to come and sample the delights of our favourite gravel roads.
Maybe November, when the days are longer ?
It would be a long one-day trek, leaving the Sunday for all to return home
    perhaps via the Taihape road.
It could also be organised as a "1000 Kayer" (6am start, late evening finish)
    Any feedback is welcomed.

Once again, Thanks Clint, and all riders. It was a privilege to meet you all.

    Tony

Thanks for the beers Tony, hit the spot after that wet but enjoyable day.
That's great news you have the nod from the Mrs. Apparently Burt Munro's great nephew also rates the big KTM also!.

Thanks also to Clint for a great ride, especially the first forest section.

    Cheers

I am keen to hear more details of a Hawkes Bay ride when you have it available.

Jeremy your 950S is the first S model I have seen, very nice. Sorry I didn't have a chance to talk to you on Saturday.

Bloody impressive! You have a KTM 950 and yet took the KLR!!
Would have loved to been on the ride with you but as usual the work/money/time thing once again got in the way
it's not a bad thing till you throw a KLR into the mix.

Eyes of the 9 fiddy S boys. I've got first dibs (I hope) when he decides to move on

Tony W - If you want any advice about running a 1000kms in a day ride drop me a PM. We did the Dusty Butt (1000kms in under 24 hours around the north of the south island) in 2008 after a failed attempt in 2007.

Thanks Tony, a Hawkes bay ride would be great, & I'd be up for a 1000km effort for sure!

My pics from Sunday are up on advrider now.
