I've investigated this as I'm still in the naked bike conversion process, and the 6 is pretty similiar. There was an argument that there could be a loss of performance due to potential intake length tuning issues, but given that (at least on the 6..) there isn't an airtight seal where they pass through the frame I doubt it matters.

As for safety, the engine should be fine with a little water coming in. Usual disclaimer applies for when you come back with bent conrods....


Did you through it down the road recently?

no. just a little wear and tear at 105,000k. Broke a irritating little lug off the fairing that holds the headlight in place. Tried to see if the guy down at manawatu plastics could weld it in place but he couldnt get his hand in there so have to take the whole thing apart for a 5 min job.

Yep lined the frame up with lasers and confirmed it was straight, found a new set of forks and a front wheel off ebay that are in better condition than the originals, and did some work on the engine.

Just waiting for the frame/swingarm etc to get its top coat, then make the new fairings. Still gonna be Kwaka green. Of course.

You could always tape a couple of your girlfriends/boyfriends pantyhose over the inlets if you are worried about crap getting in there.
