ermm bring it back. Bulb should not blow in 2 months. I have had bad runs with some Navia ones in my car, all their Artic blue (blew!) range always burns out. Go to Auto Stop, they usually only do trade. Ask nicely for some philips H4 bulb, they will have some usual ones to some extra bright ones and they do the job so far and haven't blew yet.Originally Posted by crashe
Oh and motomail wasing you when they say garages won't have them. H4 is one of the most common head light bulbs for cages.
I must do that when I get my exhaust... anyone want to come along?Originally Posted by alarumba

Gonna check out my local BP just up the road... they have just reopened after totally being rebuilt so they should have it in stock if they have it...
I sometimes buy H4 bulbs from Asians who pedal them door to door at garages - $10 for a pack of 20,of those 2 or 3 may fail early.Have a look at the brand on the metal base on the bulb of the expensive 'name brand',most likely it won't be the brand on the packet - but that's not to say they are low quality, the Hella may actualy be a Stanely or Phillips bulb...they are just bought in bulk and repackaged.A prematuraly failing bulb is more likely the result of problems in the system - poor earths and overcharging being most common, with bikes vibration is a big killer of bulbs, more often tail lights - it's a frequency thing....shaking of the tail. Some cars, particualy Hondas always have a stop bulb out - for these I fit a Wurth bulb, expensive, but they say they won't blow, and they don't.Walk up to a 1978 Mercedes and pull out all the tail bulbs...they will still be the original German bulbs - so yeah, quality does count.

Apart from Christmas Day,when you`ll still find filling stations open, about 60% of British shops are open on public holidays,I had a "plumbing emergency" and got the tools and bits I needed no problem. If you work public holidays here it`s double time so depends on your priorities I guess,my place had me and a couple of other guys on notice that they might need us at 2a.m. boxing day for 4 hours, pain in the arse but for 16 hours pay and a day off in lieu I was almost hoping for the phonecall.
When I started riding Hondas always used Stanley bulbs and they were as good as anything else.I ride all year round and high-mileage,to be honest I cant remember the last time I had a bulb blow,or a cable snap come to that, both used to be fairly common.
Ok I went up to my local BP garage today... tis all new and rebuilt.... so figured it would be well kitted out... I checked out the bulbs... and not a bulb there for bikes at all... only had bulbs for cars.. (brake, reversing and indicator lights etc).... so next I will and check out repco tomorrow...
May check out other garages - shell, mobil etc.... out of curiosity...
My local BP guy reckons that not many garages would have bike light bulbs....
Oh yeah I just came home in the dark... and the brighter light is sure brighter.... see a lot more of the road as well..
I think I'd feel like a right twatOriginally Posted by crashe
