    Power Commanders??

I've just bought some race baffles for my R1. I was only going to tear out the catalytic converter as well but then I got to thinking... Should I whack a Power Commander and K&N air filter onto it? I assume if I didn't use the Power Commander it would run a little lean/rich something like that.

I've never ridden A bike with a Power Commander so I have no idea if it's worth it. Would the pipe, air filter and PC increase HP by much? Will it add to it's resale value, possibly make it easier to sell in the future??

I live in little old Taupo and bikers here don't get much attention from the police (unless you ride a green 04 ZX10). When I put the pipe on should I expect a little more attention when I chug around town?

Yes you will get a bit more attention, it will absolutly howl without the baffles in.
If you just do baffles and air filter (ie leave the cats in) you wont "need" to do the power commander.

I've had great results with Power Commanders. I fitted one to my K4 GSX-R1000, and Gassit Girl's K5 SV650S, and got Gary Pendleton to custom map both of them. Made a huge difference... not just to peak power, but throttle response and fuel economy. I recommend it to you!

wont give you any more power (placebo effect will make you think it has)

will improve the throttle response / smoothness (after you've had it custom mapped -300 to 500$)

    do the suspension instead

I was toying with the idea of a PC3 as it's supposed to free up anywhere between 10 - 15 hp on the Prila... guess what i went for

I already had GYT-R pipes on. Then i put a BMC race filter and a PC3 and got a gain of 10hp
Tis a Yamahahahaha G. Just thrash it like you stole it. Gixxer 4 ever
It really did look very unloved. Specially as it was next to the R1 that the whole crowd wanted to look at. Gixxer 4 ever

After you've done your mods - for peace of mind you could do a power run on a dyno and get a air/fuel ratio reading just to see if everything is reasonably in the ballpark.

I did one recently for my SV after fitting mufflers and shortening the intake snorkel. At least I know it isn't too bad, so no real need for a Power Commander and dyno tuning session that would cost $1200 and only gain me another couple of hp.

i wouldnt bother, if bike feels mint no hesitations etc with the exhausts your just throwing away money your not gonna notice any more power that goes for the filter too.
