Coming your way July 14-24th, S. Island

    Hey folks,

A friend who is an enthusiast here at home recommended this site and I must say he was right when he said how amazing the people are. Just from reading for a short bit, I can see all of the generosity and kindness that exudes from the posts. So many props to all of you!

I am going to be in the South Island from the 14th to the 24th of July and stopping in the following areas: Kaikoura, Motueka, Franz Joseph, Wanaka, Queenstown, & Christchurch. I was hoping to get some advice on any things not to miss while I'm traveling, good places to eat & sleep, and perhaps some fun bars or live music that may be happening.

Any help or advice you can provide would be wonderful! Thanks for taking the time in advance.

    Warm Regards,

    Greg

There is heaps to do in all of these places, ecept franz Joseph it is really just a stop off to take scenice flights and look at glaciers! Seen one and you seen them all! When you get to NZ buy your self a copy of New Zealand Motorcycle Atlas, it has all the good roads to ride some excxellent advice, places to see, covers a lot of stuff and is available form Whitcoulls and most good book stores, you maybe even able to get it over there. I will say that the ride from Fox Glacier, south to haast , then to wanaka would have to be the best road i have ever ridden...and the most scenic! Enjoy your trip.

Welcome & Hope you have an awesome trip!

Mt Lyeford lodge if you want to do some socialising & boarding.
One important thing to remember is wear your thermals, bring your wets & wear warm clothing because you're coming in the middle off winter.
Roads will have either snow, ice or grit on them but they are still magic on a sunny winters day!

    Hi there
Hope your trip is one to remember for all the best reasons.
    How are you travelling ?
It's not generally biking season but you will see 4 seasons in one day.
Only advice I would give is that the tourist hot-spots won't always be the places that offer the most - once you arrive get a reasonable map and try the roads less travelled (the backroads) and stop in the places that you may be inclined to rip straight through.
    Enjoy
