    My little blat!

It all started with me reading a thread about Toad’s ride from Gisborne to Taupo
I was just sitting here getting board and pissed off with myself!
    Fuck it I thought,
I'm out of here…but where to go? :spudwhat:
I knew my brother was in Taupo, and it is only a 1.20hs from here …..
I then thought …”I haven’t been to Gisborne for a while… why not go that way! And see if I could catch up with my bro…who at the time of me leaving.. hadn’t returned my calls!

Packed my tooth brush, wet weather jacket, condoms, undies and deodorant.
Filled up in welcome bay, turn up the radar detector ….
I was finally on my adventure!

The weather was great, nice and hot,
First map reading was at the turn off at route 33 or 2….. I kept on No. 2
And suddenly there was hardly any traffic! Up the speed a little to just above 100ks
A great blast all the way to Opotiki … raced a couple of boy races in their crx’s, with blow offs I think I should put one on my turbo(?) left hem in my dust… hahaha
The next map check … which way route 35 or carry on route 2 ????
Chose No. 2 as I thought that I wouldn’t make it back to Taupo or anywhere very early!.. maybe next time ( eh Toad?)

The radar paid for it’s self over the next couple of hrs I can pick the cops up even when I'm following a truck and trailer unit, with the cop coming towards me in his line of traffic! Seams to have a range of around 3-5 kms (straight line) and behind me of around 2-3kms!!!!!

On this stretch of road I found that my fuel warning light comes on at around 220kms ….. going on to reserve at 269kms …and over 300kms before I filled…..took a LOT of gas, but while I was there I met a guy on another yamy and we got talking about the route I was planning on taking to Rotorua (!???) yes I had fucked up I told him the wrong place…..
But it probably was lucky as the road has around 70kms of gravel ….he told me to go to the turn off in bay view (Napier)
And take the Napier/Taupo high way, I have never been on that road on the bike, only my van or a car, so I filled up there as I didn’t want to get caught out again!! ( see we DO learn!!!)
Just got to the turn off and here was a couple on a bike stopped…. I thought they had a problem so I stopped and offered a hand …. Just to find out that it was one of the organisers of the big 50 challenge !!! John and his Daughter (?) girlfriend(?).. no I didn’t get her number……
And they had pulled over to take a photo of the No. 5 marker! They got me to hold one of the flags while they took the photo’s!!!
I'm going down in their history now!!
Left them to get sorted and about 5 minutes latter I suddenly thought…. Why didn’t I take the photo’s of them……………

All the miles I had ridden and I was still on a high! I know the owners of the motel/bar in the middle of the forest, just had to stop for a coffee… at 6.pm! they asked what I wanted tea, as I wasn’t hungry ( I don’t seam to eat much when I'm on the bike)I just had the coffee… I could’ve stayed the night on the piss…….. !! Shit there are nice people out there!

At this stage my bro still hadn’t contacted me… left the pub around 6.45pm and decided that I had better get to the gas station by the race track in Taupo, just in case my bro didn’t turn on his ph… (only 1 ½ hrs home from there).
Filled up and thought it was a bit strange that the security grills were across the doors….. it was 7.25pm… the guy had closed at 7.pm!!!!!! …..

Paid the money… and checked my ph… 2 messages!!! Who were they from???? Just going to find out when 3 ulssy (sp?)members turned up looking for gas…. It was shut then!
Finally my bro had got my messages and he had invited me for tea and wine…. Beer and song!!! And a bed!

I didn’t realise how tired I was until I got to his place, and how hungry I was ( hadn’t eaten since the night before’s tea!!!.. mmm BBq chicken… mmm

Headed off in the rain this morning, but the road soon dried, and I was back up to speed, got home in just under 1 ½ hrs, the only thing to slow me up was a head on crash… shit the cars got a real munting!!! It is a different thing seeing the crashes on the TV, in the wreakers yards, to the road!! How do you guys ( Riff Raff, SM, etc) do it?
Got home and now I'm thinking where to tomorrow……..
It was a great ride and I enjoyed the time by myself, time to think, to think of where to from here in life. Got a pm from CLS to say that she is off to the south for a holiday… I thought that would be great for Luke and I to tag along… dam not having money to do that one, my wife and I used to ride everywhere down south ALL the time, It would have been fun with Luke….
    Gota get a JOB!!

    Andy
