Broken patterns like your modern trendy types wear actually blend in quite easy witha colourful city background, solid colour is best.

I notice a lot of touring types down here wearing flouro vests, unfortunately the visibility advantage is lost 'cos a hell of a lot of them have a large 'screen/fairing on front of them and/or a large top-box or tent etc behind them.

I wear black but have headlight and two 'spot' lights on at all times during day and just headlight at night - too much glare from the spots at night.

I got reflective bits all over my Jacket........

Otherwise it's black everything including the bike....... except the helmet which is Kawasaki green..... with the usual HJC graphics.

And my headlight is always on ...... I also drift from side to side in the lane until I see the cage in front of me look at their rear-view mirrors...... these are subtle movements not big I'm a hoon let me pass moves.......

But a fluoro vest ......... maybe after my first accident...........

I published a link in a post about a year ago to a UK Government task force that researched motorcycle safety and came to the conclusion that fluoro vests were a bad idea because 90% of road users surveyed expected people to be stationary or moving at a walking pace when wearing one. This caused them to misjudge the approach speed to the motorcycle quite badly.

Funny you say that........... now that I think of it I usually think ........ road works, breath test, accident, etc.... until I figure out it is only one vest and that it is not stationary.

Just common sense but unfortunately it is NOT common

Hey, how come the lyrics in your signature make more sense than mine?

did wear one all the time when my license wasnt quite kosher - was convinced that cops were impressed, and as such were less likely to pull you over and check your details... Seemed to work - five checkpoints (alcohol, WOF) without one license check

Now with license sorted, only wear vest in poor weather conditions, at nite, and anytime going through Auckland (who have the most visually challenged cage drivers in the known universe

I dont but I will be very soon mate for the same reasons, totally pissed-off with taking evasive action 2 or 3 times a week.I can pick up one the same as the Police here wear pretty cheaply, the average dork driver here dosnt give a toss about maiming a biker but if they think they`ll get nicked they think twice.I had a bike once that I bought from a Riding Instructor, white fairing with flouro stripes down the side same as the Police, you wouldn`t believe how considerate everyone else on the road suddenly became.

Not much point in a bright vest since my Jacket has reflective piping through it anyway...

You watch some of these cop shows, Police 10-7, Motorway Patrol etc and despite their yellow and blue livery and blues and twos going, cars still refusing to move out of their way when they just want to get past, so what hope has a bike got even with fluros.

I think fluros and white helmets may help to a degree, but you can't assume that by having these things gives you what you hope they will achieve.

I ride like every bastard can't see me.

    For example:

If a car is just in front of me I will speed up so I am in his field of vision, rather than in a blind spot. Looking at a vehicle reversing and thinking, shit bet he doesn't know I am here, more often I am right than wrong.

You often have to be so aware of your surroundings, if you let your guard down is the moment you become vunerable.

So far this has worked for me.

I am probably preaching to the converted, but hey it give meone more post!

This is a bit off topic, but I like to ride where I can see the driver in front's eyes in both main & right wing mirror (that's if I can't pass right away)
Do you realise how many holes there could be if people would just take the time to take the dirt out of them?
