Hi my name is Dave Hypothetical.
I used to ride a Triumph in the 70s but I stopped riding when the family came along and I let my licence expire.
First question: What are the steps involved in regaining my licence now?

I also would like any personal experiences / observations from returning riders that I might lift quotes from for use in Kiwi Rider mag.
I used to work for a driver training establishment, so if you have any specific questions let me know.
The basic steps are, if you haven't been out of the country for most of/entire amount of the time, you will have to go through the whole lot again!
Learners, 6 months, Restricted - Defensive Driving course 3-6 months - then Full licence.
Of course this was all much easier when you could to CBTA courses!
every bike is cool in the summer.....cool when ya traveling at 100+clicks on a good stretch of blacktop...it dont matter what make it is, it dont matter what size it is....we are all there for one thing...the love of riding!...If ya wanna be egotistical go buy yerself a Hummer!...then ya wont be cool!
My name is Motu Mythological....I'm 29 and have never ridden a bike in my life.In the last 9 years of the Labour Government I have become a multimillionare in IT and have since retired.I thought a motorcycle would add to my mana,as I've watched some MotoGP on my 42in plasma.I bought the fastest and most expensive bike I could find, and have leathers and helmet to match.I haven't ridden it much yet....just down to the Cafe at Mission Bay,but man,I sure get some looks!
What I need to know is - how can I become the fastest rider out there without wasting time doing all the learner stuff?
Not as far as I'm aware.
However, I have just found this link that seems to say you can just do the Learners test and then a practical test...

I've been riding for 24 years. I was without a bike once in that time and it was the worst 3 months of my life!
RRRS is a good idea - it's typically aimed at these types of people - getting back into riding, generally on more powerful machinery than they were previously used to.
Unfortunately RRRS has no bearing on getting your license sorted out.

It's better to not pass and know that you could have than to pass and find out that you can't. Wait for the straight.
