    My bike blew up!

Yeah, my trusty CG110 blew up today when going down to get a DVD....

The top compression ring broke up, and broke away the ringlands and caused bits of rings and things to go up into the clyinder, which caused mechanical damage....

The head's not bad condition, but the pistons rooted, I'll go and see if I can get some parts tommorow...

Is there anywhere I can get aftermarket parts for my CG in christchurch, or will I have to buy genuine honda?

    Cheers,

    Sam

sounds like time for the boring bar dude. I think you can take her out to 120cc
    with no problems.
Being a pushrod motor you probably diddn't do too much damage in there

Yeah it's still sweet in there, no bore damage, just mild head damage, but I can easily dress that up at work!

Where do I get the piston if I bore it out a bit?

I reckon I might give it a port and polish at work at the same time as I clean it up, shouldn't take long at all....

I can easily do the boring/ honing at work too. No worries...

How about welding some pedals to the front sprocket and going for a CG110 land speed record?

Still remember the sound of my motoguzzi dropping a valve at 6000rpm on the western springs on ramp....... Don't ever want to hear that again. But probably won't because I am sworn off italian machinery for good now....

Sounds like a small block 4Valver (Lario?)

They could be a trial to their hapless owners but it can be fixed!

I'd give econohonda a yell. They have a range of new but obsolete honda stuff.
Actually come to think of it (-Now keep in mind im remembering back 20 years here.) I think the Cg110 and the CG125 had same stroke but different bore
I think they used a common barrel just thicker walled on the 110.
    Might be worth checking out.

I went to see casbolts yesterday and thet have the parts i need, but they are a little expensive cos they are genuine?

    Rings $70, gaskets $30, Piston, $120...

So what i should do is get a CG125 piston, and bore out the barrel to suit at work?

Aha! I'll have the big block then!!!!

Well its proof of one thing I said on the other thread "chances are you engine is a bit worn" and when they get buggered like that is when you have trouble with them running down low and having any grunt until the revs build.

Get the rebore done (will it take a 125 sized piston OK?) but still check other things like the carb and the ignition and make sure its all sweet and you'll have a different bike after that.
    Cheers

Yeah it was a bit tired, but it will be a minta now!

I'll do some measurements in a minute with the vernier calipers, and look at the specs for the 125 in the handy book I got out the library, and see if it will take the 125 piston sweet as.

Might even see if I can get an oversized piston and maybe take it out to 130cc!!!

I could even give it a mild port and polish at work too, so it's gonna be one sweet runner....

I did some measurements, and it seems that if I bore it out the the bore specifications I read in the book, my wall thickness will be approximatly 1mm on the metal sleeve....

This seems a bit thin to me, so I think I might just get an oversize 110 piston.
